prince, the gambia is part of the grand scheme of things. we are not an isolated country in the international financial climate. think global and act national that way you wouldn't surprise about many things. think global and act local if you like. the credit crunch is a global issue, watch out prince charming |

diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.
Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices. |

Toubaba, you are a tough character. i thought i made my point clear. the gambia is not an isolated country in the global financial industry. if the u.k can be feeling the impact of the american credit crunch what do you think will stop us being affected if we don't watch for our banks to take control? also, the commentary i made was included in it a section on money laundry. that is where the vedio has relevance to the topic. can i go now. |

Santa, I understand that Gambia isn't financially isolated. I just get uneasy when fellows like Perkins come up with ridiculous allegations that the west "preplanned" the financial collapse of countries in the south.
Its true that structural adjustments spearheaded by Bretton woods institutions did created undesirable outcomes. This is mainly due to the power dynamics surrounding their creation and an incompetent bureaucracy implementing projects.
Basically, what I'm saying is we should be careful 'bout what we accept from speculators and rumor mongers. Believing in UFOs, sept. 11 conspiracies etc. is for the very feeble minded. its not intellectuals like you, Santa.

I agree with Prince, this video might not apply to Gambia but I bet it applies to some african nation. Gambia maybe be small, but when it comes to World loans from what corporation size does nto matter, it the ease of access that matters. For a country the size of Gambia why so many banks, and why are the all in one area, is anyone in Basse, Farrafeni, does the trail go up river. Look at the loans that have been given to the country in the past 10 years if you are not sure I can provide a few links, lots going in, and not much to show for it. i think on eof the reasons they do no want the locals to have access to accounts is the power they cou dhave if any thing goes wrong. A run on a bank can be devasting to an economy, think eastern european blocks that collasped as a result of banking systems.

i suppose one can also ask why there are so many Banks in Switzerland, considering its size & population.
personally i think its a good thing that they are empowering many of our Youths who would otherwise be unemployed. the they're keeping a lot of businesses and people employed. surely this is a good thing. |
