Where there is a will there is away. You don't have to have vast hectares to grow food to supplement your families meals. Come on Lily most people in Britain have no land but it doesn't prevent Garden centers from making a lot of money. Food is versatile and can be grown in a window Box ,Garden or a field. At present in Britain there is a five year waiting list for allotments. so even if you have no land you can still can be done in urban centers. The answer doesn't depend on government to find a solution but the individual to make the effort to find a solution. If you eat a piece of fruit you have a choice whether to throw away the seeds or plant them. If you nurture the seed it will develop and grow if you discard them they won't. It is the efforts that matters. What you put in to something is what you get out of it. It is about being proactive not inactive. After all inactivity leads to poverty.

Absolutely agree that individuals can help themselves and should help themselves, though to be fair, a window box will not feed a family.
However, I still think it's the responsibility of governments to take care of their people - and that does mean making sure they are fed - and yes, definitely encouraged to help themselves. Though again, to be fair, many poor people are already doing their best. |

hi sister omega, you ar right it would help it more went back to the land and grew vegetables and when buying foor looked for local labels and not the imports. most of the families i have met if they do not have land they have access to something, i would have thought communities would get together and grow in bulk. Lily, the government could help the people by paying the workers/civil workers etc a decent wage so they could be they inflated food prices.
