OGIS strives for an anti drug and violence society
OGIS (The Organisation of Gambians in Stockholm) aim is to awaken and increase the awarness about Gambian culture and to bring the Gambians together and help them integrate into the Swedish society. With the new younger board the goals this year is to increase the knowledge about the Gambian culture. The Organisation wants to participate in the struggle to change the media portrayal of the Gambian culture. Through a different and innovative program this year we hope to start make a little difference.
The aim with the Gambian cultural week is to create a platform where Gambians residing in the Diaspora are able to meet and celebrate their culture and introduce it to the Swedish people.
The Gambian cultural week is celebrated in the month of June every year, in Stockholm.
Activites sucha as family days, fotball tournaments, with Gambian teams from all over Europe participate. The Cultural nights are filled with traditional activities and performances from Senegambia. To be able to achieve our goals this year we are collaborating with Selam, CinemAfrica, Energysoundz and Dabakh productions.
