youna is a dump. sorry folks. it is miles away , has roads that will be impassable in rainy season. has no electric or sewage shops or anything and none planned. there are 2 or 3 conmen round there pretending to be the al-kalo's son and trying to sell land that is not theirs to sell and then to re-sell it again!. my brother-in-law was conned by a man called ousman living there, who is a watchman at sos orphanage- where my bro-in-law went to school!!!He was sold land next to ousman's compound which was then resold behind his back - and they lied about the dimensions as well.. we saw land out there and we saw the area. it is miles from anywhere given the current development there. unless i am talking about a different youna....... sorry to the chap who posted, but people should listen to all things when it comes to buying land in gambia.
Lurker is right about taking care about buying land in Gambia. The land in Question has all the relevant paperwork to go with it.Always check everthing out before you part with any money. My recolection of my last visit to Youna (7months ago) was that Elctricity pylons are now very close to the village. It took 10-15 minutes bay car from the airport road. It has big new school sponsored by some people from Scotland.Leaving the village we took a different rout to Tanji about 15 minutes. I dont know if we are talking about the same place. But concur with Lurker about taking care about buying land.
