Just imagine Sam coming in again but is any one surprised not me .Well he postulated and i quote>as I gleaned from his publication via the gambia echo:-
......................................................................
However, it was not until the PPP in their quest for independence from the British started spreading the inaccurate political message that the Wollofs had stolen their country, Gambia, and kept them under suppression for centuries that I began to realize the filth behind tribalism. As far as some of them were concerned, colonialism with all its degradation had nothing to do with the “Toubabs” in charge for over three hundred years but everything to do with Wollof hegemony. And to the majority of Mandinkas whose votes were needed to put the political scam artists in power, the trick worked perfectly.
......................................................................
I still believe Sam wants us to accept his position that tribalism in our body politics started with the PPP. Even after being referred to unchallenged historic records he still stands by his words. It is; may be his style of writing or my understanding of his meaning but what i got thereby was the simple statement that for him tribalism in Gambian Politics started with the PPP.In his latest outburst he tried to talk about The Late Honorable PS NJie and I just wonder if that shot was not too late.I mean it is like shooting at shadows, the target has moved and the volley of shots even from an automatic gun would bear zero results as he would tell his recruit; a wash out . Any way he will not keep quiet but so shall others keep on at him.Apologizing to Dr Manneh was good and in my opinion he would not have attracted such a reaction had he recounted the said matter in its proper chronological order.Certain events in history did take place and if any one wants to talk about them it should be done in the said manner.Otherwise one would fall into an abyss of time whereby you would be placing the back foot in front which is open to challenge and the pursuit of redress.Sam has the right to write what ever he likes but rewriting a period of history to suit his purposes is unacceptable to me and I have the right to challenge him on that which I am hereby doing.
If as it proven that UP was on the scene well before the advent of PPP and certain ugly things were perpetuated by the incumbent political bigwigs at that point in time how could the late comer be responsible for any malfeasance and be the fore runner as such of that type of activity. This statement does not however excuse any malfeasance practiced either earlier or later. It is just setting the records straight that I am after .Let the truth be told.

I cannot accept his premises of maturity in the current debate.Yes we need to temper our discussions with reasonable candor and sensible replies as much as possible;but the truth like they say in wollof is like hot pepper, its not easy to swallow. It takes a courageous person to accept the truth flung back in his face, perhaps Sam did not foresee the reaction his piece provoked .Now that we all have reached this bridge it is sensible for the one who caused offense to say sorry as we say back home saying 'mass' does not calm the pains of an injury but cools the heart.By going behind the docking boards and willing others to attack him thus be seen as immature is cheap. It is not immature to rebut a claim if it is considered faulty or untrue and putting things in their proper perspective if not an act of maturity I wonder what else it would be.Psychological brow beatings and word smith tactics won't work ,the truth is the way out; accepting ones fault in our Gambian customs is one of the highest qualities of a person and i expect such from a man who got promoted to the high rank of lieutenant colonel.I have no doubts that he merited that promotion but wonder if he wants to wear the title and earn our respect in the proper manner. It is human to make mistakes and honorable to accept when one does make any mistake even if you do not apologize for them. And finally it does not make one smaller rather it exalts you in the eyes of others.Sam Sarr definitely was a handsome soldier and the title was very fitting.I want to salute him any time I see the pictures of a fine soldier Sam Sarr Lt.Col,rtd. with respect
