I would also love to experience Gambia in the rainy season, but as mentioned earlier the travel companys only offer holidays betwween november and April
the majority of tourists in the Gambia are british. The reason most british people first travel to gambia is the guarrenteed sunshine during the winter months. The 6 hour flight time which means we can comfortably travel for just a week. Also during Winter we have a good choice of UK airports to fly from.
Summertime people can travel from regional airports to places that have maybe only a 2 hour flight time and can guarrentee sunshine.
To holiday in The Gambia in the summer months means we have to travel to Gatwick which most people would avoid if given a choice of a regional airport. The weather isnt guarrenteed...and the prices are sky high...plus the added cost for Malaria medication which isnt needed in Europe.
Most of the summer visitors are return visitors.... people that have already fallen in love with Gambia and would like to visit as often as possible no matter what reason or how the weather is or how far they have to travel.
A first timer to Gambia is more likely to visit the country in the Winter months.
So maybe the way ahead is by raising the price slightly thru the Winter months as people would be more willing to pay a little extra for a week of sun when its snowing at home and then reducing the price thru the summer months to encourage return visitors.
Plus by reducing the price during summer and not winter you might also pick up the odd first timer who is sick of the crowds on the beaches in Europe.
So one of the selling points must be the uncrowded beaches!
I personally prefer the Summer months as i love the water at its warmest.
