Bro Karamba, Karl, Baldeh, Madiba, Uncle Santa et al;

Don't miss this one! I am flapping my wings. What a shame for this big old "Tony-dabaa" ???????????????? Kebba Dibba knows how to make Jammeh act pitiful. Is it correct to say humans are masquerades or masquerades are humans? It is a strong belief that once masquerades are masked then they are totally out of human thinking, notably the Fangbondi, Kangkurang and Samai. Jammeh was on the mask again.

PRESIDENT JAMMEH SPEAKS ON NEWYEAR'S EVE

President Jammeh in an exclusive interview with Kebba Dibba
over the National. Radio and Television Services (GRTS) in an
answer to the question as to what his achievements were for the
past year.

The president said agreed that that his government did not register
any high achievements for the year 2007. He said what he wanted
to accomplish during the year was sustainable economic stability
and quality water and electricity system.

"I have an agenda on what I should achieve in 2007. I wanted to electrify the whole country in 2007
because my plan is to make The Gambia a city state by now." Said the president. But as he said, man
proposes and God disposes, said Jammeh. Responding to a question raised by Kebba Dibba on the
case filed by the UDP/NRP on the amendments made on the constitution and the Local Government
Act that concentrates power on him to dismiss elected council representatives, and event to dissolve
councils, Jammeh argued that, "This is a democracy where the majority carries the vote; that if it is
unconstitutional for the National Assembly to make any amendments, I don't think they know the law.
If the councils were not delivering satisfactorily on their duties, there should be an intervention, even up
to appointed interim committees. He blamed the municipalities for failing in their duties to clean their
areas. He said, even with his intervention, they cannot provide vehicles to collect garbage. He added
that if any opposition is not satisfied with the laws, they can go to a country where the opposition
makes laws. He said he sometimes fire ministers on the same reasons if they do not live up to
expectations. President Jammeh said councilors are the development agents and it is just that the
people do not know the importance or that they do not take it seriously. If they do, he said, they
would choose serious people to take responsibility of their affairs.

On autonomy, the president opined that the so-called independence of local government authority has
gone beyond any rational definition. (Whatever that I means, my emphasis). He asserted that they can
be autonomous from the country but not from the government. He further argued that some mayors
travel anywhere, fix per diems for themselves and interpret the constitution to suit their own interest;
that you can only be independent if you are developing, he said.

On the economy he said people are complaining that it does no benefit them. He argued that it does
because as he said the chunk of the budget which should be utilized on developments has been spent
on debt settlement but said this year, it would be the reverse what should go for debt settlement would
be spent on social services. He then blame the westerners for exploiting Africa.

The president who once said after three years, The Gambia would not beg any country now extended
the period to ten years; that after ten years, Gambia will not beg any country again. He said we are
taking loans for political reasons.

When he was asked how he was going to run NEPAD if he was given the chance to run it, he said "I
would create a racing horse with four legs" because as he argued NEPAd has no legs. He said he
would go back to "Africa Rapid Trust Fund", and give the fund to some people to run and manage it;
that any country that wants loans will go and take it and pay later.

On Inflation
The Gambian president blames it on greed. He said, we call ourselves religious people while we feed
on extortion and as he said, as a Muslim, extortion is illegal. He said in 2008, his government will
introduced license system for all those dealing with livestock and fisher folk and if anyone is caught
selling at high price, he or she would be deported if he or she is a foreigner and if he or she is a
Gambian, his or her family will not enjoy the benevolence of his government.

On HIV/AIDS
Jammeh adamantly claim that he has demonstrated his ability to cure any incurable disease but argued
that institutions such as the Global Fund For Aids are amassing trillions of dollars who are selling Anti
Retro-Viral drugs (ARVs) and would never accept his cure because of their profits.

On Democracy
President Jammeh said he preferred the transition years 1994-1996 and said) that time was the real
democracy. He vehemently argued that democracy does not develop any country but the will of the
people that develops a country.

He opined that during the transition period, everybody in The Gambia had one agenda and that was
"The country," but as he put it, now, they said, democracy, everybody have a right to sit down without
working.

He finally threatened the civil servants and said he would sack anyone who does not produce because
as he said he would make strict laws in 2008 during the year. A political commentator who preferred
anonymity said Jammeh's style is to play on the sentiments of those who cannot analyse issues and
who are not informed about realities. The commentator said Jawara left a debt of 3 billion dalasis but
the loan, Jammeh took on behalf of this country, amounts to over 25 billion dalasis. Yet The Gambian
people remained jobless, hungry and wretched, and poverty is still escalating. The commentator also
argued that Jammeh is simply capitalizing on the superstition of the ignorant masses to mystify himself
and use the mass media to propagate fiction upon fiction since he has no coherent political or
economic ideas.

He said Jammeh whose policies should yield jobs is now complaining that people are sitting down. Is
that not a contradiction, he asked. It's a shame for this country, he asserted.

The combined ignorance and arrogance of Yaya Jammeh will cost Gambia immensely.
