I have traveled to gambia for the winter for last few years But this year will be flying to Thialand/Cambodia an 11 hour each way flightat a cost of £432 return as against a 6 hour each way flight to Gambia . Gambia Experience would of cost me £650. I truly belive the reason that Gambia Experienc has the monopoly is that they have someone in their pocket from the tourist board or who ever so that they keep a strangle hold on flights and the cost.
Also because of the increasing costs in Gambia and the Dalasi I can go some where cheaper with lots more to see and do as against Gambia. Lets be honest wilst Gambia is a nice country this is not enough as it dosnt have a lot to offer tourists against other destinations. So the only way to keep the tourist comming/back is to compete on cost

you should look at the prices going the opposite direction, west coast of usa, same price, mexico same price. the suggestion of gambia experience and the monopoly is an old one. unfortunately gambia is the sufferer, becuase can and does determine a choice of holiday. |

You are right Jambou Its very sad for the people of Gambia. As for me when I went to Gambia over a number of years staying anything from 3 to six months over this time spent a lot of money. I never went with a tour operator but rented accomodation from a Gambian and spent my money in the local community so none of my money went out of the country with and there were many like me and I know for a fact they are now looking else where |

AHA! you see , friends. the negative aspect of the meddling by little people into big matters is already taking its toll. jumped-up "economic experts " decide to meddle with a currency value , with somew cockamamy excuse of lowering prices for the gambian in the shops, and the tourists are already truning elsewhere. totally predictable. totally mad. Moe said elsewhere that we cannot only blame the president, as the people allow him to get in, stay in and then carry out these exercises in futility. i think he is probably right. gambians have to take account of their crosses in boxes. there are not yet any guns at peoples heads in elections. |
