KMC Former Mayor Reports To Police Headquarters? Fabakary B. Ceesay
Barely few days after the publication by a local newspaper that the Attorney General has filed a “nolle prosequi” in the D 4 million criminal trial involving the former mayor of the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC), Mr. Alieu Momar Njie, who was also the chief scout commissioner of the Gambia Scout Association, Foroyaa has been reliably informed that Mr. Alieu Momar Njie was on Saturday 10th November called by the police to report to police head quarters in Banjul. Sources added that Mr. Njie was subsequently put under arrest and was asked to produce a surety to sign a bond of one million dalasis (D1, 000,000), before he would be allowed to go free. When the police spokesperson was contacted, Inspector Sulayman Secka confirmed the story. Inspector Secka said Mr. Njie was asked to go and answer at police headquarters. He said he could not confirm whether Mr. Njie was allowed to go or was detained. He said he is on a provincial tour.
