For me personally, Toubab1020, I'm finding too many of the topics involve the same subject matter which in turn seems to include the usual derogatory personal remarks, attacks, level of intolerance for those who don't subscribe to their views, etc. It's a big turn-off! |

MeMe. Yes,that is true BUT I think that we should remember that Bantaba is a part of Momodou Camera's HOME PAGE and that we are all here as guests, some posters do appear to get very angry when others disagree with their views and in some cases appear to bring in "reinforcements" to bolster their arguement,Bantaba is also the only international forum about Gambia I know of where there are members who can answer any question whether it be about the roots of ethnic names or the price of flour in Gambia markets,It is uncensored very important ,it would be good to have more posters who live in Gambia and who are in a position to update "local" news, this is probably not going to happen due to circumstances beyond their control. In general this Bantaba is very good dispite your comments, which I cannot disagree with.

For me, it is just a lack of time. I was very busy for the last few months, and I fear this will go on for a while. But almost every day I read a bit of the forum topics. |

Yes, i see what you mean Toubab1020. And i recognize something in all the above postings. I am busy too, both at home and in the workplace - but first and foremost i would like to add that i find it sometimes discouraging to have to realise that not everyone is reading with care. As if i have to fight a stigma put on 'anna' by some. 'Oh here's anna: so what she is writing is anti-Islamic (i am not, i am living with a Muslim), anti-religion (i am not, though it is something i am struggling with personally), feminist (not at all, but i sympathise with injustice done to my sisters everywhere)'. I am interested in the Gambia, it being my partner's homeland, i would like to know more about it and i like some of the points that are discussed here (i keep out of Gambian politics, not knowing anything about it). But i have to confess: sometimes i think 'why bother'....... |

My last trip to Gambia was in New Year, so I feel I have very little up to date and new information. I go again on 23rd Nov for a week. I will post about my experiences when I return.
I must admit I dont like the more extreme people on the site and I dont like the intimidation of others that can take place.
I came on here to express my views and learn more about Gambian way of life. I have learnt alot. Thank you.
Also my life is very very busy and stressful at the moment. Lots going on. My daughter was 18 this week! My baby!
When life is stressful I can do without the agro from certain people on here. The internet is part of my relaxation, dont want grief!
I will post from my first hand experiences when I return. |

My problem is that; those who are not muslims or stalinist radical secularist people insults and attacks on islam making these sites turn-off. Especially those who are mixing up politics and religion. It is a big turn off to listen some non-muslims come and attack on islam everyday.
As a secular, moderate muslim, I believe, I or anyone else have no right to go involve with other religions. For example, a christian must not expect a hindu to believe that a women got pregnant with the miracle of god. There is not point to argue about it. Or a secular, should not debate about religion in logical terms. Religion is an individual experience. |
diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.
Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices. |

I find this topic very enlightning, when I started it I was mearly enquiring as to where everyone was,the views from the posters are very similar. This Bantaba is part of Momodou's own page, although it would appear that certain posters seem not to accept that there is a view on a subject that does not correspond with their own and cannot be convinced that there at least 2 sides to everything (OK not completly correct ,but for a discussion it will do!)EVERYONE is entitled to their own opinion and that should be respected, yes, in all cases.I am now able to see why some times things go quiet. Till next time then!
