This is an embrassment. Unfortunately there are still elements in your society who dont want to earn their income instead wants to take it from someone who works really hard for it. i visited Gambia sometime last year and my cell phone got stolen the first night and i lost my numbers. I was really mad and i kept calling the phone and he kept hanging it up on me. At some point i told him to try and get his own and he replied " i dont care this one is mine"

I would be really interested in what story this boy tells his family when he returns, will he be ashamed and tell them the truth? Is he a good boy who is misunderstood due to a hard childhood where he was unloved and didn't have a social worker?
I wonder who is is?
I wonder if there is a Bantaba reader who has seen the photograph in the newspaper link who will tell his father of the disgrace that this boy has bought on The Gambia as well as his family.

I consider you to be a legal expert (maybe I am under an illusion) my reply to your previous posting was meant to indicate that lawyers use words, although the content was clear there was no conversational opinion expressed, just the facts,I had hoped to generate a discussion of opinions from Bantaba readers, especially the female members, who think in a different way to males.

Gambianow story is not the first time this bad one has courted publicity...

"Legal cop out",is "legalspeak" where a lawyer can use words the meaning of which is hard to fathom, but hey..you are not a lawyer so it cannot apply to you,my mistake to assume you were.

No one said you are, you only have to read the dedication and liking that Bantaba members have for Gambia, everywhere in the world there are bad people,Gambia could do with some serious "modernisation" to let it join the 21st Century, have a look at what places like Dubai are doing,In Dubai imported goods from all over the world are LEFT UNATTENDED on the dockside and NEVER stolen,I cannot imagine such circumstances pertaining to the port at Banjul!

Maybe I should check with my teacher Nyarikangbanna with that legal terminology, Toubab. You have clearly thrown sand in my eyes here

Of course not all Gambian people are like that. In my opinion it seems to be denfranshised young MEN that use sex and marriage as an easy way out of poverty. Hand on heart, who can blame them?

BUT stealing from a good natured person is unforgivable. If asked that person would have given what they could.

When I go to Gambian villages I meet some of the NICEST, KINDEST, most GENEROUS people I have ever met. i LOVE the villages.

I DONT like senagambia. That is not real Gambia.

If people come to stay at coast I suggest Kotu. It is beautiful and more gentle.
