Think about Gambia's sensible environment and abstain from bribing someone and buying it. |

it is a bit harsh, but food for thought, i would nto go out and bribe someone but, when you hand over money you never know if they have the right to sell it. i am interested in farming on the land but not owning. |

Sorry, jambo, I didn't mean to be harsh, and of course I don't mean that you use to bribe someone. But your question sounded a bit careless. |

which part sounded careless, i am equiring if all land is tribal land or is there waste land, the TDA region in kombos must have been wasteland at one time otherwise tribes would have claimed it by now. what make syou think if i use it for farming, it would not be sensible for the environment. |

Remember that you didn't say from the beginning that you would like to use it for farming. Anyway, I think that for ecological reasons we should not use every single square centimeter of land. |

and why would you think it was for the wrong use, you should not have assumed what the reason was before you ask a question. for ecological reasons we should not every bit of land, but the opposite is this land that culd be used for sustainable living should be used think on those lands. |

I am tired of this discussion. I apologized, and if you don't accept it, I don't care any longer. |

anyway back to the main topic, i was enquiring about waste or common land, becuase i had in mind a project that would help the community i am looking to work with. something along the lines of allotments for the community. we have it here in uk and i know other countries have it, but not sure if this kind of thing works in UK. it is a way for the women to have a plot of land and grow food for their family or for sell. so any help.

Hi Jambo All I can offer is that one of the families I help was given land just on the outskits of their village by the Alkalo. We fenced it and put in some simple wells and now it's used by the family - out also by lots of villae women to grow veg which they sell at market (and use for themselves). So I'd say ask the village Alkalo and elders. I'm sure they will know of a plot of land such as you ask about. |
