BREAKING NEWS: GAINAKO NEWSPAPER IS HERE-DALTON IS THE OWNER
our friend and brother Yero Jallow, alias Dalton is now a full fledge journalist. He means business. Ask me and I will tell you why. Dalton has launched an online Newspaper called Gainako.com We broke the news before Yero and his team issued their press release. At Freedom, we don’t believe in waiting for the news. We want to be the number one to report the news. And this is what we demonstrated again.
Welcome brother Dalton, on the media evolution. We are proud of you. The more online papers, we have the better it will be. Information is powerful. The most effect way to delegtimize a dictatorial regime is to have a vibrant press. We say welcome Gainako pullo. Make sure that the cows are well taken care of . Laugher…. Don’t spear anyone in Jammeh’s government. Expose them beyond redemption.
The domain name Gainako is meaningful in many ways. One, it suggested that Yero is still memorizing his Gainako days in Sintet. Two, that he want to show the world that Gainakos too loved The Gambia and her people. Gainakos are known to be very honest and down to earth. Kon Inoyee heika Yero. Laughter!!! My brother used to like cows. Gainako “aree” meaning Gainako has come.
As a matter of fact, Gainako will be publishing the Freedom Newspaper, popular column called “Good morning, Mr. President“, as a sign of collaboration. Yero, is a long time admirer of the late murdered Point Editor and boss Deyda Hydara. He will be networking with our paper to reach out to millions of readers across the globe.
Reacting to the coming of the Gainako Newspaper, Freedom Newspaper Managing Editor Pa Nderry M’Bai said” I’m not surprised by Yero’s move. Here is a colleague who is committed to the ideals of free press and democracy. I worked with Yero and he had always proven to be ambitious and disciplined. I have no doubt in my mind that he means well for The Gambia and her people. He is a very patriotic citizen. He spent his last dime just to ensure that Freedom is not undermined. His active participation on media and other social activities are clear manifestation of his determination to promote just, free and democratic Gambia.”
Mr.M’Bai said the coming of the Gainako Newspaper, will go a long way in complementing the efforts already initiated by other sister online papers in this country. “Gainako, will indeed complement our efforts to make the dictatorial Jammeh government accountable to its citizens. Despite the fact that we are away from home, we have succeeded in exposing the growing maladministration taking place in the country. Our papers are well read. We should not underestimate our efforts. A good number of people cherished what we are doing and we should continue with the good job.” said the Freedom Newspaper Editor.
An editorial member of the Gainako Newspaper, when contacted said their paper will empower Gambians whose voices had been silenced by the Jammeh government. The insider says the paper will empower the voiceless and will expose graft in their daily reporting. The insider added that they were on the verge of issuing a press release to announce the coming of such a paper.

Are these websites touted as newspapers infact newspapers. There is a difference between a newspaper ( an entity that reports, publishes and print news) and a website. I don't think any of these sites that call themselves newspapers are newspapers. They are in fact websites that publish and link to news items. Calling themselves newspapers without printing a shread of news item is in my opinion a misnomer.
I will hasten to say that they (web sites)serve a great purpose in the dissemination of views that would otherwise not be heard. However,a newspaper is a whole different animal. These sites are more of weblogs than newspapers. But I digress. |
