Yeah I know my headline is inflammatory, but what else do you get out of this nonsense that nderry wrote on his paper:
What is evident though, is that the Gambian government has long been trailing our Western Division Correspondent Wise Man. Mr.Dibba is not a staffer of this paper and it's wrong for anyone to victimize him. Wise Man's stories are factual and is driving the state house crazy. You have sacked the wrong person. Dibba's sacking followed a lead story authored by Wise Man in which he exposed an APRC Chairman who was detained on domestic violence charges.
No where in the story is it mentioned that Dibba was fired for suspicion of working for nderry's rag. Why in God's name is nderry rumbling with denials of Dibba working with him.He was allegedly fired for writting about Jammeh's phantom HIV cure. But it is always about nderry. He is such a simpleton that craves for attention from all corners.
He couldn't even get simple facts in the story story straight. Take a look at this sentence in his story that is factually inaccurate:
He was reinstated, following an intervention made by Gambia's Agriculture Minister Yankuba Touray.
Yankuba Touray serves as the fisheries minister. Kanja Sanneh is the minister of Agriculture. The editor of "the leading Gambian online newspaper" (laugh) should know that. When was the last time Yankuba served at agriculture? In any case he was not the agric minister during Yahya's HIV cure spectacle.
My hunch is that nderry stole this story from his erstwhile colleague Yankuba Jambang. Mr. Jambang was associate editor at freedom until he had a falling out with nderry sometime last month. He started his own paper and this story was first reported there yesterday. Here is the link to the story. http://www.senegambianews.com/article.cfm?articleID=1765
Instead of linking to Jambang and giving him credit for the scoop, he coop the story and embellish it to make it look like Dibba was fired not only for his HIV story but for alleged links to his rag of a paper. Nderry knew how toxic his rag is with the authorities back home. Linking Dibba to it will get him jailed. Nderry's irresponsibilty has already screwed up the livelihood of a lot of innocent Gambians. Omar Bah (his associate editor) is a prime example. And that explains the inflammatory tone of my headline.

I am very worried about Lamin Dibbas safety. This was the journalist I posted about many months ago. He was worried for his life, not just prison!
His cousin is also Lamin Dibba. He is my guide from Pirang. The family are a GOOD family. I have visited Lamin Dibba at the paper and at his home. I have met his lovely wife who is a teacher.
They are decent people.
Why should someone be in fear just for doing a job?!
I am so upset here in UK. It is difficult to know how to help. I have been warned not to write too much on internet becuase of government spies.
If anyone can give me advice please private email me.

"I have been warned not to write too much on internet becuase of government spies." Bev.
I can't help but laugh at that statement bev. You gotto be like 'Sab'. Just assume you are a free person, exercising your true rights-freedom of speech. If they hold your legs, i will promise to be your friends, doing bigger headlines. (You smile!)
But don't be late now. It is enough to say the 'green boys' are online. Mind you woooo, the term 'green boys' is both masculine and femine. In fact they read you more than you read your own threads. How they get the other sister Fatou J Manneh?
If he [Lamin] can get a school anywhere outside that vicinity, that might give him a chance to develop his career. not that easy though. but if everyone leaves, who will be there ?
I hope he will be safe, unharmed. I truly share both of your fears and concerns about him. It is that easy to be in hot soup.

Bev, I realised last night when I read the posting it was your friend being referred too. Like his loved ones will be support, you to can be a supportive outlet whilst the tyranny take their strides but if you are worried about cyberspace, then u should take it easy easy on the text & landline. You can do nothing more personally.
Everyday or night it is the next person - unfortunately it has become their expected news, he has not been arrested, has he?
Whilst there recentlyI needed to see a friend I had missed on the last two occasions - I found him looking after a building 3/4 finished as the owner has been missing fifteen months! I knew about the missing person thru the news, then suddenly you are brushing shoulders with it again, just like yourself.
My thoughts are with Lamin & the family who have forgotten what it is like to be free...
When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it - always. (Mahatma Gandhi ) sab. |
