Some insight, added to Mr. Jow's wonderful review.

I congratulate my good senior & friend, Coach.

I congratulate Galleh also. I pray that God prolong his life for his readership. I agree with what a friend told me, that one can easily be in love with Galleh's craft.
But like they said "Simple is good." No one should be shy or so preserved that they cannot truly share how they feel about things.

A job well done Baba. Reactions to recent takes on Gambian politic by Sam Sarr, BB Darbo and other resflects a desperate need for Gambian literature by Gambians both home and abroad even it means delving into Pa Nderry's classics. We need more Babas out there. Can't wait toget my paws on this one. Thanks Gainako.

Shaka,

Thank you for your nice thread. it's been a while missing your hard hits. I hope your appearance means getting it back active. baba's book is a must read for all. another documentary to truly serve its purpose, exposing a jammeh and his cronies.

i don't know if you were here then. You also, shaka to re-activate his pen, and sharpen it like yours & the many others.

my good brother shaka, is of a very illuminating pen. bro shaka, like 'son of haile' is among the pioneer teachers i had in this forum when i started threading her. probably, he is too busy with family and life. who isn't any way???

also the two others; Sab & omega. together with the many other traiblazer strong ones like 'observer' and his cousin lurks. also, moe and his guy, gerubaba. just culling off my memory. a lot others.

while omega's part on african struggle, women issues is illuminating, sab's knowledge of south african struggle is worth remember and also supportive of 'aids' awareness.

with sab, who always threaded in riddles, she is an excellent teacher. she also has an ability to say short sentences, referencing a wide scope. her reference on ken saro wear, a symbolic avatar to live after her in this forum, is outspoken. also a strong believer in mandela, walter susulu, steve biko, etc...

it reminds me of what louis farakhan said once, refering to walter susulu, "patriot of the patriots, of the people."

Yes Dalton lots of others, but never forgetting the respected LS who declined to post after IPS addresses where introduced and later returned to The Gambia on completion of his studies. Plus the passionate ZZZZZZZZZ noticeably absent since the registration of bantaba - with LS & ZZZ amongst others, each day was like a lesson leaving you with homework! That's why I still enjoy a read of 'old bantaba.' I am most grateful to bantaba, for extending my knowledge.
Shaka, yes time is well overdue to renew your ink - be great to see your inspirational postings again.

When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it - always. (Mahatma Gandhi )

The good old days eh. I sure will find more time now to contribute, as my busy schedule permits me. There is still a good bunch of intellectuals in this forum aside from the ones mentioned. Every bit of idea shared here is very important as we can only learn from each other irrespective of who you are. Like old Father Murphy use to tell us at SAHS "a day that goes by without learning something new is a day wasted". The goog thing about this bantaba is that you will always learn something new each day from diverse opinions. Thank you my old comorades, Sab and Dalton. It seems like Sister O is tucking into too much aki and salt fish and jerk chicken to bother. Been a while now ain't it.

Uncle Santa,

how you like the book? share with us your reviewed version. see different people see different directions.

yes sab & shaka,

LS was a contributor. also, the many zzzzzzzzz. LS's departure coincided with a 'dirty-blood' in this forum. sab, they probably still with us.

as we thread this topic, and i visited the old archives, i saw many others, many others- like brother african, jangjang, usa etc..

i cannot believe what i am reading in the book . the childish behaviour of the junta was very embarrassing. they deported journalis back to war torn countries .old men of 70 years .my God ,things happen man .i will adivce brother/sisters to read the book .it is an eye opener for all of us. the accounts of tamping with press freedom and basic human rights is sad indeed . i am only at chapter five but hey ajarama baba galeh . i will treasure the book .

After reading Coach's review, really excited to dive into this read. Upon my impending return from my vacation, I am certain the book will have arrived and I can read it. I am interested in learning more about what is happening in African countries, any other suggestions about good reads??? Just finished "a long way gone" about a Sierre Leone boy soldier and "what is the What?" a book about the Sudanese lost boys. Both excellent reads. Eye openers for this Westerner, shocking, touching and an amazing display of human resilience and courage.
