Santanfara, Dalton1, Mansasulu,

The issue about what Gambian online sites provide can never lay to rest without reconciling the facts and myths. Mansasulu happens to cling unto a very unsuitable perception and position. His remarks suffer a fallacy of hasty conclusion. The bad deal about what Mansasulu holds is his sweeping statement without providing substance. The good deal is that if (Mansa) is focused enough as picking on the tiny fault of the onlines, that gives us the opportunity for him to advance the task by opening up his own. Let him produce and let Gambian readers choose. Opinions based on passion do run the risk of bias. The sites are being maintained by sacrificing Gambians who only serve for the good of it. Even those who publish low-keyed information have their role too. To conclude that these sites exist only about Jammeh, begs for more sensible explanation than such passing statement. Jammeh happens to be a person in key position today but even after he is gone, that seat will be subject to competent scrutiny and critical attention. There is ample progress in our political process with more seasoned professionals taking keen interest in smaller and bigger ways. Rather than tagging the onlines, anyone whose sharpness of attention to detail is able to see the minute errors of others, also has the obligation to do better. Mansa, you are free to drop the mask and open another site to take on the needed unfinished tasks of others. For now, Dalton1 and rest of the online media fraternity, keep going until someone comes to do better. To have started at all is bold and progressive.

As always, my respect for all forums and newspapers have no bounds. Forums and newspapers are all designed for the same purpose-education and awareness.
There are instances when i disagree, as per opinion differences and manner of production, just like any one else. it is normal.

i belief sulu has all the time to authenticate this story. Upon the elapse of time, i will proof his baseless accusations, an another of heroic hatred and jealousy, hell bent on assinating character..

is it ok to liar about someone in his absense, moreso in his presense? If the answer is no, then i will proof him a liar.

i will let the pen rest, till he authenticates the story for this forum.

for a fact, he will never be man enough to apologize and he knows he have no supportive grounds. for fact, concluding he 'openly lied'.

sulu can authicate the said story and bring that matter before this forum. once, that is done, we will move on this matter.

Note: The guy in question is not related to me. I never talked to him, but that once instance on the phone. I never had of his name but that one instance. as well, he revealed to me tickets are now costing $100.00 canadian dollars because of the said blunder, though he had his' for 30 something bucks. The story inenterity is from him. In fact, there are two Gambian diplomats there at the time, names witheld who had meetings with.

at the end of the call, i asked him, do you want to be quoted openly/directly, he said no. i said, be rest assured, less the need arises, your identity is protected.

if any one else is interested, you are as well welcome to authenticate this.

Forum admins should excuse my harness in this debate. where i choose to be a humble person, at times, it is call to be 'hot'. i am not trying to raise my voice on any one, nor do i claim of perfection, but sulu's sinister attitude is just at the limits of where i can have it. period.

Dalton, you are right about the tickets. I spoke to someone in Toronto about two weeks ago and was told that the tickets for the Gambia U-20 matches were sold out. It has taken many Gambians there by surprise since they had not yet purchased their tickets.

On another note, Madiba is right about the photo at The Gambia Echo site. This is no doubt a group photo.

Wow...I didn't Know someone didn't sleep last night. A little background information might help perhaps...I started off trying my hand in journalism in 1995 by reporting on Nawettan football and Division One. It was not long before, I knew that Journalist was not for me and I am glad I did make the choice I did back then.

Karamba, my suspicions about Journalism have all and truely been confirmed by our online repertorial representatives. You look at their stories and the overwhelming majority of their stories are on one man alone. Never will they report on stories that are of any substance. Always, heresay and innuendo. If the culture of self aggrandizement and interlectual mastubation is what Journalism is all about then I am glad I am not part of it.

Be it Sankareh, Pa Nderry, or Gainako, they are all a mockery of responsible journalism. No less worst than the Daily Observer. In fact, they more or less the antitheisis in cheerleading their respective agendas of the Daily Observer. Journalism is about being fair and balanced. You cannot solely be a Jammeh supporter or a Jammeh hater.

I have explained the reasons why I am against Jammeh and his administration and may I point out that my reasons are not solely because he has done something bad to people I am closed to. In other words, instead of having subjective reasons mine are rather based on objectivity and principle. For too long we allowed people who are interested in personal gains to define the reasons why we should be against the administration and time again they engage in dubious practices in order to bolster those positions.

Two things first, Momodou, I am not disputing the facts that tickets were sold out. In fact that is expected considering the group Gambia is in. However, the facts are that you cannot blame Yaya Jammeh and his administration for the lack of tickets when they are not sending a single Gambian fan from Gambia to attend the Games.

FACT 1.
Requesting for tickets at international tournaments is solely the responsibility of National Football Associations.

FACT 2.
Football Associations are not part of national governments.

Dalton, you can quote every source you want, and I am least interested in what ever source you present. The issue here is not a question of having a source. You can find a source to every story, but the facts remain that the Gambia Football Association is culpable in this instance. If you know your politics on football and international tournaments you will understand what I am talking about.

Where I fault you is failing to find out whose responsibility it is to apply for tickets rather than failing to miss an opportunity to continue to promote whatever private vendatta you may have. You seem to be a very bitter person. It is about time we stop blaming Jammeh and his administration for everything under the sun and take responsibility for our own short comings as Gambians.

Quote from Gainako

"Meanwhile it is alleged that Jammeh spent one million Gambian Dalasis securing a Ghanaian 300-jet
flight supposedly to carry fans to Canada. A slight delay is anticipated, but it is expected by evening
of June 25th 2007, Gambian fans and soccer players would have arrived in Canada."

I wonder if you got this allegation from your source as well.

Oh man, if there is no more evidence for Jammeh being a womanizer than this harmless foto I don't understand the whole fuss. Does it mean that any time someone is standing next to a person of the opposite sex you can accuse those two of having an affair? The lady laughs with the president - so what? Maybe he just cracked a good joke.

There are at least 30 tickets available for the Gambia v.Portugal game in Montreal on July 8, 2007. I just spoke to the ticket office 5 minutes ago. I cant speak of for our games against Mexico and New Zealand because that was an automated service. If anyone want to verify this information the number is (001)1-866-662-3452. I will urge our brothers and sisters in the United States and Canada to find out since it may be easier for them to call.

I am beginning to wonder if Gainako and their "source" were being economical with the truth instead of publishing false information and unjustly pointing fingers at others who are merely interested in the truth. We will not be manipulated neither will we be silenceed.

There is a grip here Mansasulu. To be a critic of anything, person, or situation, it is best done with very good knowledge of what you choose to criticise. Without the media, advancement on the world stage in different spheres could not have come this far. It is unclear if it is journalism you despise, a particular online, or better still, a specific fact reported. Once you abandoned journalism after a brief trial, it makes it hard for you to provide an expert view on the PROFESSION. You will help the situation by encouraging those who stay by the profession and help them further by correcting them from the angle of particular expertise or where they have the facts wrong and you have better proof. There is an encouraging growth in the media arena which goes against the desire of monopolists. With the interest and time you have in making all these good postings, you can do better by filling in the gaps and not expanding an extreme debate to prove who is wrong or who is right. Your persistence is quite encouraging. Keep it up.

Karamba, one does not need to be a rocket scientist to recognize facade. This is what I believe the online papers are engaging in. Gainako failed to conveniently let their readership know that tickets are available for the game in Montreal and you fault me for questioning that? I am not trying to proof anything and I do not need to proof anything for that matter. The fact is that time and again they engage in heresay and innuendo. Now the fact that they merely support you views about Jammeh 100 percent all the time does not mean the rest of us should toe the line. I am not toeing any line and I will not be silenced!

We all love the gambia or at least claim. The point is that none of us is happy with our current predicament and we may disagree on what the best course for our country is but we shouldn't stoop too low...

The fact remains that GFA is at fault and not Jammeh. We cannot put this one on him and secondly tickets are available for the game in Montreal against Portugal. Call the number and talk to the ticket office, something Gainako should have done.

Wow! I did not know what can of worms i have opend up by posting this topic. People at each opther's throats.

Well i am looking at the picture carefully. It looks like the picture was done on a farm of some sort with the greenry behind. To the right of the picture looks like another person standing next to the SOS as a white T-shirt protrudes.

Well what do i know. I am just a 200 pounds gorilla sitting behind a keyboard.

For now i am not able to condemn or deny anything as claimed. This photograph does not deny anything. God knows best.

Com'on Konds is the picture revealing? Certainly God knows best. Thats what Sankareh should have known. Most of us desire to see Jammeh vacate the seat and usher in a better Gov't , but do we need to use unconventional methods such as soiling his personality and the personalities of those that decide to work wit him? We all have skeletons in our cupboards. Recently this kind of journalism landed some people in Jail in Mali , a model democractic country. The Malian President was portrayed in a comical manner as adulterous(keeping a mistress).

No one is being economical with the truth. it is you that uttered it baselessly, irresponsible, and now the language twist cannot be accepted as excuse. i am still willing to give you a chance to call my source and get it from there. post it in this forum, openly.

otherwise, it becomes clear to me that your intention remains the same ****.

later.

if you cannot proof anything or shouldn't, then what's your big mouth in it. read back what you said, and are you willing to wear the 'thick head donkey' mask, cos it is on you. i will proof to you, you lied, and that was your intention. since you tried to, instead i will be responsible to proof you a liar.

shame on you!
