Thanks Jambo - Maybe I will 'read between the lines' later.
I did read over the weekend.. that THREE BILLION people live on less than £1.20 a day. But cows in the European Union get over £1.40 a day in subsidies!
The combined economies of the worlds forty eight nations are less than the wealth of the worlds THREE richest men.....
A THIRD of deaths each year in the world, 18million, are caused by poverty.
Quote from Oxfam - "In the two years since Gleneagles, 21 million children under five have died from preventable diseases – the equivalent of every child under five in Germany, France, Canada, Japan, Italy and the UK. The financial cost to the G8 of increasing aid is just one tenth of military spending but the human cost is millions of lives,” said Lawson. What an absolute sham G8 is.... but, just look at who is in attendance |
The world would be a poorer place if it was peopled by children whose parents risked nothing in the cause of social justice, for fear of personal loss. (Joe Slovo - African revolutionary) |

This G8 was disastrous and embarrassing in many ways:
1. The huge sum of money you read about in the newspapers is a fake; the real sum they PROMISE to give for the fight against malaria and HIV is much smaller. As far as I know 60 billion Dollars are the promised money from Gleneagles (which has never been paid) plus 3%.
2. The measures against the global warming are a joke.
3. Hedge fonds can continue their 'work' almost uncontrolled. 4. Since Nazi days there has never been such a violation of democratic constitutional rights in Germany. Ironically enough it started the very day our chancellor critized Putin on her visit to Russia for his repressions against freedom of speech: Globalisation critics were arrested in Germany, and suffered many repressions more. I am sure G.W. was pleased, but Germany's image as a democracy is damaged. Thank you, Angie! Thank you, Wolfgang (Schäuble; our minister of interior, a real psychopath)!!
5. The riots in Rostock took place under VERY dubious circumstances. There is strong evidence that the German government, following Italy's example (in Genua), sent agents provocateurs to start the violence.
6. The German tax payer was ripped off; this was the most expensive G8 ever.
I never expected anything positive from one of these dubious meetings. But thanks to the constant good work of organisations like attac and many, many others the self-appointed rulers of the world can't go on celebrating their 'godfather' meetings without being disturbed. I would like to see more Africans joining organisations like attac! |

did anyone follow the africa day, what a "photo oppotunity", load of old rope. before the g8 in germany, presidents of uganda and zambia were in london to address the africa business forum. a lot of ministers were in town holding press conference and roundtables. Zambia has had its debt written off due to the country getting together and meeting the criteria required to have country debts cancelled. Uganda's president made a good speech and appealed to the G8 members to either help Africa or stay away but not to put obstacles in their way. The G8 have not helped africa at all, as for a waste of money, my brain cannot count that high. the next Summit is the African Union I wonder what they will promise |

A double cafe low fat frappuccino nothing else ! A kind of world that has meets and all that bustle that dosent stop just because its time for bed . I wish we take a minute and think how they come on this stage. All this howl for help like lion in cavities is a gawky. and that dirges of robering Africa is nothing but counsel-less of our problems. |
