It was about mystism (black magic power? "Juju?" "Marabouts" art? Spell casting? etc or not). Chief Abu Khan was an authoritaive and scary chief that backed Jawara politically and he invested a lot in that case to avoid his beloved son to go to jail and a bad precedent for the family clan. According to narration Fafa was advised not to go through the gates of the old Magistrates court at Wellington street (old street name changed now). The walls were low and you can grab the top, press hard and jump into the premises. The court house was easily accessible in those days and we used to go round late evenings to play around. Having climb they said that he went through the window of the court he is supposed to sat for this case.
In one of the sitting Fafa attended the case before Chief Abu Khan came from Kuntair with the ferry and according to eye witnesses (one of my elders), they heard that the Cief nodded and swear that if they met eye to eye that day would have been Fafas' death warant (ONLY ALLAH KILL!)????. The death warrant phobia is coined here as there was a precedence on trials that involve another renown Chief with late Lawyer Solomon Njie. Having passed sentence the Chief threatened him that he is already dead before evenings that very day. It mysteriously happened and he was buried after the trial in DARK AFRICAN CONTINENT Any thruth in that am not sure but making this case more interesting. Fafas car even was said to puntured as bad omen for him that day. Fafa was also said to have been well versed with the Quran and read recite it for his prayers before going to court etc wetc. These are dramatised and lots of talking going round town.
Unfortunately popular Ebou Khan has to serve his term and the father suffered serious illness until he sadly passed away whilst Ebou was in jail.
Excuse me for no further comments! Thanks. |
