i am getting information on the events in london to mark the abolition of slavery, 25th march there is a big march in london that is planned it is being lead by to archbishops york and canterbury and will end in kennington park south london. i know it was not the end of slavery but let us join in with this date.
i will keep you informed of the events as i get the information. there are lots of things planned, but some i will not publish because i am not sure of the organisation beind them. and i do not like the idea of paying a large entrance fee or buyng a ticket.

Understandable, people want to make MONEY,but to put events on costs MONEY,
catch 22 maybe? NOTHING is FREE these days!!

On Sunday 25th February at 2pm there is a FREE event in York Minster.
The 200th Anniversary of the passing of the slave trade abolition bill.
The Archbishop of York , William Hague MP, Riding lights theatre group, Trans Global drummers and Pocklington school choir will all be part of the service.
The service is in commemoration of William willberforce.

There is a quote on the leaflet 'set all free, act to end slavery'.
So I hope the service will acknowledge that there are still slaves today.

The Archbishop of York is a very interesting character. He speaks out on many issues and doesn't seem frightened of the political debates of the day.

update on the events there are lots of things going on soas has opened its archives, musuems are putting on exhition, but what bothers me is the elitists, the london assembley are negiotating a cut in funding for the mayor of london events ken livingstone normally has evens that are for the diversity and cultural mix of london ad they are normally free, interesting that some of the assembly members think it should be reduced.
