| Yes Jambo, but you get nothing free in this world, whilst I will admit that flythomascook.com does offer the BEST VALUE seat only flights no doubt about that,(unless someone else knows better ! )if you cost up the FREE flight seats for a RETURN journey ticket you will find that you can get even loss costly RETURN flights by using their normal cost seats. |

Just checked...no free seats as of 9:40 EST. However, the April 18th outbound flight is £1.99 (almost free, I guess). You will also notice that the inbound flights are a bit pricey. So, if you are planning on buying a return ticket, you'll have to pay at least £200, which is still a bargain compared to The Gambia Experience fares.
By the way, has anybody in the house used this service before i.e flew Thomas Cook Airlines to BJL and back to LGW? Is it a reliable airline? Are the flights prone to cancellations? I ask because I live in North America, and don't want to miss my connecting flight at Heathrow (for my return leg) should I choose this Airline for travel to The Gambia.

Jambo,
Thanks for the response. I am connecting from Canada, consequently I have to arrive a day before the outbound flight. I don't have any problems with this at all as I do know a lot of folks in London that wouldn't mind me crashing on their couch. My fear is the return journey. How long of a delay did you experience? A few hours?
Thanks! Ramou |

hi ramou, my delay was from banjul, we were diverted to Canary island because of fuel shortage, it was 5 hour delay,. but i have been delayed in gambia for 6 hours, they put a notice on the information board in the hotel . CHECK YOUR INSURANCE TO SEE IF YOU ARE COVERED FOR DELAYS. |

Jambo,
Thanks for the response. I will be on transit (in London) for 14 h on my return journey. Consequently, the few hours of delay you experienced wouldn't be a big deal for me; it may turn out to be a blessing in disguise as I will just have to jump on the bus (coach) to Heathrow for my connecting flight rather than spending the night in London (and avoid placing a burden on somebody). May God continue to Bless Thomas Cook!
Thanks! Ramou |

I have already purchased my ticket thro' FlyThomasCook.com (paid 250 GBP). I'll try the other sites for my December trip. I am too cheap (perhaps poor) for SN Brussels. So, I didn't even bother to check their website. Moreover, it is a lot cheaper to fly from Canada to London than it is to Brussels. For instance, I paid $600 for an Air Canada return flight to London; the fare to Brussels with the same airline is $1000! That said, if you don't mind subsidizing my December trip, I'll fly SN Brussels
Thanks! Ramou |

Does any one know the baggage allowance on Thosmascook's flights. I live in North America as well and travel quite often to The Gambia. I usually travel from ATL to BJL connecting in Brussells. I prefer this route because Delta Airlines has a code-share agreement with SN Brussells...they always honor the two checked bags and one carry-on with 50lbs and 25lbs respectively.
I'm not sure if Thomascook would match the same baaggage allowance...nonetheless,if the savings is huge, I wouldn't mind flying with Thomascook. |

SANTAFARA,
Indeed, I can't wait for all the good food and smiling faces. I'll be home in April, inshallah. Only six weeks to go!

Concort,
The baggage allowance for Thomas Cook Airlines is 15 kg (one checked bag); can be increased to 20 kg at the time of booking for an extra £5 per passenger per flight (£10 for a return ticket). Excess baggage will incur additional charges...I don't know what the rate is. You are also allowed only one carry-on item with a weight limit of 5 kg. Consequently, Thomas Cook is for folks that are travelling light. You may be better off to fly thro' Brussels if you have a lot of load.
Thanks! Ramou |
