Today a friend of mine sent me the followin article. I thought I wouls share it with Bantaba.
The Peaceful Majority
I used to know a man whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War Two. They owned a number of large industries and estates. I asked him how many German people were true Nazis, and the answer he gave has stuck with me and guided my attitude toward fanaticism ever since.
"Very few people were true Nazis "he said," but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories."
We are told again and again by "experts" and "talking heads" that Islam is the religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace.
Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the spectre of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam. The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history.
It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honour kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. The hard quantifiable fact is that the "peaceful majority" is the "silent majority" and it is cowed and extraneous.
Communist Russia comprised Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China 'S huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.
The average Japanese individual prior to World War 2 was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet. And, who can forget Rwanda, which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were "peace loving"?
History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points:
Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence.
Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because like my friend from Germany, they will awake one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.
Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.
As for us who watch it all unfold; we must pay attention to the only group that counts; the fanatics who threaten our way of life.
Lastly, I wish to add: At the risk of offending someone, I sincerely think that anyone who rejects this as just another political rant, or doubts the seriousness of this issue or just deletes it without sending it on, is part of the problem. Lets quit laughing at and forwarding the jokes and cartoons, which denigrate and ridicule our leaders in this war against terror. They are trying to protect the interests and well being of the World and it's citizens. Best we support them.

Hello there! I know what you think fundamentalist means. Hold it right there! And that’s as far as I allowed myself to go, when I got to this:
“The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history.”
And who rules the non Muslim Crusader world?
Who are the fanatics – the atheists?
Sometimes “the fanatics” are oppressed.
It is not the fanatics who rule Islam, and they never have, it is the fervent and desperate righteous Muslim – Is beleaguered, outgunned and besieged in his own Islamic lands even as wars are imposed upon him and since during the prophetic career of the role model leader of Islam salallahu alaihi wa salaam, it was twenty three years of a state of emergency and dar al-Islam vs. dar al Harb is the unshakable grounds as the Muslim is forced - in the name of Islam and national honour to - respond to fire with fire in these IMPOSED wars which are mostly not being fought in the United States but in foreign lands.
And how would you like the Germans to occupy you?
Is the Islamic form /model of governemnt not a valid form of self-government?

DR thomas,i don't think your analysis deserve any coment from me .you are also an underdog basser. you to your opinion and the rest of the muslim world to their opinion .i would say though ,very narrow outlook of the world from your side . may be you are just falling inline .but remember every thing happens by ALLAH'S will .no amount of defending the status quo will bring lasting peace and justice to human kind if some want people to do as they say or else. you were just putting together a conjecture and half-bake falaces.
please take a good look at the international political arena and tell me if you see any fanatics in control of a nuclear bum or an atom bum. who are this fanatics and which mosque do they control ? who is a fanatic and who is not ? the nazies were in charge of a government and stock pile of asernals ,they were secularis ...all the wars were mostly fought by secularis leaders .in africa we have countless wars ,can you tell me which one is fought on religious line .except the fracas in nigeria which is even mostly stage manage .in short you analyse just like the radio commentators ,making it seems like one can just put a nuclear warhead on your shoulder and fire . please doctor let people be ,stop the scare mongering .go visit jails accross the world and see what socall secularist leaders are doing to people .remember we are one big human family ,we may have different orrientation but we are one . |

if you read the first line of the posting it was sent to me by someone else.
I never passed comment on it only shared it with you.
Having studied it, it is quite inflimitory in places, but the positives I took from it were "What the silent majority have a duty to do"
This is not about Muslims or Christians. Its about mans inhumaity to others

| Fundamentalists and fanatics are who they are. Jewish or Muslim fundamentalists can only play their bit. What they cannot do is to change the principles and value systems of the faiths they claim to belong. Put in thick short message, fundamentalism is not THE RELIGION itself. If a Christian priest becomes a paedophile, his miscoduct does not change the faith of Christianity. We can only safely conclude that one out of a million Christians have turned against teachings of the Holy Scriptures. Therefore, one million Muslims acting as fundamentalists or fanatics have no power in their collective might to change a word from the Holy Quran. They remain themselves and the principles and value of Islam remain unchanged. |
