Momodou, thanks for this very good explanation of the calendar change.
But now I am a little bit confused. I thought that Jesus' birthdate was set to December because it was the time of the winter solstice, a date which had been celebrated by the pagan northern Europeans (yule) for a long time. But this theory fails if after the Julian calendar it was September. Christian missionaries in Europe liked to replace traditional festivals with Christian ones to make sure that people would follow them; they also used to replace pagan sanctuaries with churches (centuries later the Spanish did the same in Central and South America). |

It should have no effect on your age unless you were born in 1582 when the gregorian calender was adopted. |
