Hi, I am trying to find two Gambians who were last known to be in Sweden. These are relatives of a Gambian currently in detention in the UK. Can anyone help?

Many thanks

I suggest you ask those detained of their relatives in Sweden.
Then you can contact them privately

Their names are Melvin & Fatou Campbell, originally from Banjul. Melvin is about 26, and Fatou, his sister, is a bit younger. I think they might have been in Gothenburg, but it's possible they were in another Swedish city beginning with the letter G. Sorry this is vague, but it's all the information I have to go on.

If you have any suggestion of how to find them, kindly let me know, thanks!

All he knows is that Melvin & Fatou Campbell were living in a city whose name begins with G -- perhaps Gothenburg. They are originally from Banjul. Melvin is about 26, and Fatou, his sister, is a bit younger. Sorry this is vague, but it's all the information I have to go on!

I am a British volunteer working with a young Gambian man currently in detention in the UK. He is looking for his brother and sister, last known to be in Sweden.

You could write directly to the Police and with their consent
( Melvin's and Fatou's) the Police will give you their exact contact information.

Well, as you might know, many people change their identity when they come to Europe. What language other than English do they speak? I am not awear of any Cambles in Sweden. There is a boy I know who's mother is Camble, but in the Gambia and a sister to John Cambell the gitarr player. Are you sure they are from Banjulö? They might be also from Sierra Leone.
To make things short, please ask them which Gambian language they speak?
I am making investigations with the older people who have lived in Göteborg for a long time and mix with Gambians.

Thank you very much! I will ask which language they speak. I don't think they are related to John Campbell the guitar player, but I will ask that as well.

deece,
As you said , they speak Mandinka. The next is to know if they are from Sierra Leone or where. Mandinka is spoken in many west African countries with different dialects. Gambia and (Cassamance)Senegal have the same, Mali, Sieraleone and Guinea Sekou Toure have more or less the same. As I know the Cambells, most of them speak Aku from Sierraleone. There is even one man whoes mother is Cambell , but he has no memory of the said people. You have to ask more questions to get the right people. Good Luck
