Of course it is no paradox that whilst our adventurous young people are prepared to risk life and limb to get to Europe, Africa is still advertising virgin beaches and reservation monkeys to attract European tourists:

Eve, I red the observer yesterday and the sadest was that 144 Gambians were deported from Spain. They did not protes in Spain ,but waited until in the Gambia and started being very violent. I can't understant it. Can you? |

The irony of migration is that immigrants often see opportunities where host communities see challenges. Peace Sister Omega |

The Gambiaīs authorities should take action to protect itīs citizens from a very dangerous crossing to the Canarias and make them to stay at home, but arresting presumed passangers itīs not the right way. Itīs not a crime to want to leave the country. Gambia is not Cuba |

Alhasan. you seems to be sure about teachers welfare so much that you think there situation is better now. i disagree.teachers may be earning a little bit more now than before ,but i hope you know what inflation mean. what was the price for a bag of rice when you were teaching? how much was the rent per month for a two bed room house? sir if you are constantly drumming up for yaya i ask you to be truthful. why aren't gambian's prepare to teach? low salary that do not march the inflation effect. people from outside can undertake a low paying job beacuse the primary reason is they don't have immeadiate relatives to take the money from them. gambian's are doing similar low paid jobs in several countries.e.g angola, congo, ivory coast, nigeria and many more. i cummunicate with the former head of education who is now in england but your rossy picture of teachers salary is fantasy.gambian like teaching but the money. i hope you can still teach the door is open for sir. the dangerous boat trip is a tragedy.it indicate to europeans that slavery is still possible.ironically people trafficking is global and it seems there is no end in the undertaken.pooverty is close to being a crime. |

bro, I dont know where you got your ideas. "pooverty is close to being a crime". I think you should review your opinion in this case. You seem to be angry with me because of the possitive views on Gambia. We are all entiatled to our opinions. You can try to convince me by facts. Slavery is not possible. Those going in the boats are commiting a crime. This Gambian views you people have on Europeans are wrong. We cannot justify the illigal boat trips. I am not suprised in your opinion at all. typical for a Gambian to say things like your posting. Things like this have made Gambia not to progress.
