Opinion:
If news is what we can go by, today, we all read the story reported by Sankareh and his ally Nderry Mbye, on the efforts by Nadd to answer to the call of its followers. This, to the best of analysis is a step in the right direction. We hope by thursday when they meet again, they will finalise on what they started-naming an elective and winning candidate.
As i observe the polls reported, i am trying to do my calculation in my own way, at the back of mind. My view on matters is my personal opinion, and it reflects my calculation-and represents me wholly as an individual.
A lot of unanswered questions are ringing the bells of all sensible Gambians, and what is certain though, we are at the end of observing them name a flag bearer. In their naming, it might be our candidates of personal opinion or candidates of want, or the opposite. What is a requirement is for them all to agree and respect their votes and vows, and continue to work together meat-and-bone, to the end that the state house keys will be taking from the hands of the dictator. It is also on us, all of us , as Gambians and friends of the Gambia-not to engage in attitudes or hatred that will divide us more than we are divided.
Analysis
1. Halifa Sallah, must never let us down at the last hour-either as his way of humbleness or his principles, when elected like any of his mates, should take the task, and wear the shirt, and bear the flag. That is a trust that he should keep.
2. OJ, and Darboe must humble themselves and if any of them are selected, then we should all rally behind them. we know OJ and Darboe are friends, though politics is a dirty game.
3. The wide say in town today , with the mentioning of OJ as reported by Sankareh and Nderry "Is the PPP coming back ?", is not something that genuine Gambians should, in my opinion , base their arguements on. He is not a ppp operative now, and in this case only a Nadd flagbearer, if chosen.
4. Darboe's comments to consult the UDP is a step in the right direction, and we hope and pray that genuine minds always speak genuine things. Darboe, upon consulting his mates will recharge and come back with more determination to see the coalition move forward, and get rid of Jammeh. Darboe's twice selection-to-loose still doesn't mean he will loose the coming election. Darboe learnt his lesson from the election he gave away to Jammeh as charity, when he conceded before consulting his fellows, and part of why he fell out with Juwara. He is not taking any chance now and ever.
5. Infact, much respect goes to both Darboe and OJ for the interest they showed in leading our nation. This is a sacrifice from both fellows to end their political lives in just five years, leave once and for good.
6. Juwara,Hamat, Kemeseng and Sidia's stance on matters, in not opting for the position, is both a sign of humbleness and a way forward for giving chances to their comrades, thus reducing the push and pull of Nadd leadership.
7. "Rome was not built in a day", the old english saying. We don't expect the position of a flagbearer unbattled for. We saw it in America, when Haward Deen cried on CNN-in his encounters with Kerry et al. That is a democratic process. Infact, more push and pull was expected than is observed, as reported.
8. The "power-to-the-people" slogan is what Juwara thought me. I interviewed Ganji Touray at a time, who said due to Nadd's financial stance, and lack of effective ways of reaching to the provinces, and people around all over, the Nadd executive were going to name a flag bearer as efforts were observed today. In the absense that there is a disagreement, then it will get to the committee level, and then if they cannot resolve it, then to the people. One would think this is twisted, in every little way, there is a need to put the electrorate first. What is certain though, they are all representing their parties at the Nadd podium, and that makes me believe it is the power of the people speaking through their spokemen. It all lies on how one, through their IQ, can argue on the matter amicably.
9. Loosing hope and fighting is the last we should resort to. We should observe a moment of silence for reconciliation, and give acceptance a chance, and respect the coming vote on thursday.
10. I am not not a free thinker, where to says "things happen as they happen." I believe in predestination, in that Allah's will in the affair of the matter is already the final rule, and we cannot change this 'qadr.' We cannot fold our hands and wait for qadr, and God wants us to do the effort. we grow our plants, apply fertilizer and water-plus weeding, we will have a good harvest-by Allah's will.
11. Gambians, non-Gambians-at home and abroad must associate themselves well , in seeing Gambians united and ending the Games of tyranny. I mean, we call for both moral and financial obligation. And this is an associate in the struggle, perhaps more important than arguements in forums.
12. I 've said it here before-these fellows if related to you in blood, then close your eyes and ears. They are public figures, and cannot go uncritisised in forums and newspapers. It reminds me of Deyda's Piece "Good Morning Mr. President", in the part that he talked about the press being the mouth piece and a link between the citizenry of a nation and the Gov't.
13. Today , the enermy cannot control his urine and faecal matter tubes, and we hope he continue being uncomfortable till the day he will hand over the palace keys to us.
14. Also at crucial times like this, everyone tend to be quiet. We've seen the forum gone quiet during the Atlanta launching of Nadd, and many times were people's views were requested in view to having it tabled before most of these fellows. That's not something you can blame any one for. Should that also mean respecting the few that choose to inform, not beacuse they are heroic or educated, choose to voice their opinions ? How democractic are we in our hearts ? Yes, it is questionsble. If i were not learning any thing in this forum or any where else, then good day Mr. Administrator. The same thing i wil tell anyone else. Should the unshared wisdom remain interpreted as selfishness-not necessarily. Cover your eyes for the name, and let not your tempers and personal anger steer your wheels, and then we take ride to space.
Our common enermy is jammeh, and we should all be committed to having him out.
Lond live Nadd and Long live STGDP !!

You get the point right DALTON,, i like and appreciate your point,, u have hit the points and am very encouraged that if all gambians reunite and put our differences aside we will get somewher with Jammeh... I have no doubt that he will win the coming elections but i believe he needs to know where we as gambians stand with him,, We have very descent people back home who are as responsible and willing to work for the betterment of our counrty ,, therefore they need our support... Jammeh will not win by majority votes but he will still win if anyone doubts that i can bet anything for that,,,, |

| What a way to put it and am really please with the pieces of advice put forward by Dalton. Long live NADD and comorades abroad. Basiru, this not a personal attack but at this monent in our history we need to be optimistic than be the other way round. Have courage then the figth will last long, lose it then it last for only few hours. I hope come October 2006, we will be celebrating and not mourning. |

| Greetings, Why October? Is there a date for the election? I believe Ramadan starts 24th September 2006, surely election would not be so close to its end....."When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it - always." (Mahatma Gandhi) Freedom & peace. |

Sab, well calculated. It looks like coincidence with rahmadhan, but yes should be election month in October, a date to be determined by IEC. Also watch out for interview with former IEC comminication officer, also part of Allgambian's editors Lamain Sabally, we are working on it soon-we will clarify more the lectroral process and the stipulations in the constistution and the electroral decrees. Infact, i keep monitoring questions dealing with electroral process here and other fora.
Gandhi was real light and illumination. See the candle dictator melting, and Jammeh will be no exception to the happening trend.
By hooke or crook though, election is a last chance for genuine Gambians and Jammeh himself-the ungenuine. Don't forget that Kukoi and Sanna sabally are at large, and capable of sinking our nation. Do you followed the farafenni attack, how only six men armed with only one pistol and knives were able to take a whole farafenni barracks, thought to be the 3rd infantry batallion in the Gambia. We don't have any doubt that jammeh, when defeated will try to cling his shameless pseusphodes on power, but he will better be wise to enter an ant hill ,and be arrested an angry vampire. He doesn' own the coming election, and victory by majority is far from the arguements.
