An article on the linkages between Senegambia and Louisiana... the Creole connection.... despite the horror of the passage from Goree, the Senegambians who survived ended up mixing their ways and culture with Louisianians...

P.S.
I knew a volunteer who traced the linkage between Sierra Leoneans and those living on the islands near the Carolinas... The big surprise was when a trip was organized for the two groups to meet each other. Talk about recognition and surprise. Its the Gullah people..

Another woman I knew from the Southern U.S. learned rhymes and lullabyes as which she later learned originally came from Zaire...

Another thing thats interesting about Louisiana is that the Chinese also came there to build the railroad in the early 1900's. They decided to stay and intermarried with American Indians and African Americans.
