I have decided to creat a new topic since the discussion that started with dress code advice for tourist now has led to discussion on FGM or women circumcision.

Don't think that I am in for FGM. I am not and would not allow my daughter go through it.

One of the NGO fighting this practice is GAMCOTRAP (Gambia Committee on Traditional Practices). Some of the most outspoken Gambian women against this practice are Sister Amie Sillah, Amie Bojang-Sissoho and Dr. Isatou Touray. I found the following document written by two them and you will see that we are not waiting for you to come and redeem us Babylon. http://www.wildaf-ao.org/eng/IMG/doc/Gambie_ENG-2.doc

Greetings everyone! You can do something to fight against FGM and other crimes comitted to women in this world. One voice can make a huge difference so make your voice heard! Silence is Not Golden when it comes to criminal acts against our daughters and sisters. React, it is not the wicked mans voice that is worse but the silence of good people.
