Three Accused Ordered to Compensate Wednesday 23rd August 2006

The Bundung Magistrates’Court, presided over by Principal Magistrate Moses Richards yesterday ordered three young students (names withheld) to compensate their class teacher, Mr Mendy.
The trio were standing trial for assaulting Mr. Mendy thereby causing him actual bodily harm.
Upon their plea of guilty, each of them was ordered to pay the sum of D2, 000 as compensation to their teacher, Mr. Mendy, or in default sent to a juvenile centre   
DID I MISS SOMETHING gambian members of the forum, hitting a teacher what happened to these students. there parents must be climbing the walls, what an embaressment.

jambo, since it made the news, I assume such incidents are rare, which is a good thing. In any large population, if there are a handful of misbehaved students, that's not entirely unexpected. The fine seems to suit the deed.
