Greetings Everyone,
I'm just wondering where have all our longstanding contributors gone too? And where has the spirit of this Bantabaa gone. It seems that Bantabaa in cyberspace has now become a scientific racist profiling center concerned more with white people trying to get over their own racism than anything else, or a dating service for lonely hearts.Than a cutting edge meeting place with stimulating debates.
With 121 members registered on this site when will we all get the pleasure of hearing from the other 97 people who are yet to post in their contributions?
I would encourage you all to post in other topics or contribute to the existing forum because of late some of these postings are like watching paint dry!
It is with great anticipation that I look forward to hearing from some new or old members very soon !
For those of you who have never posted a message, don't be shy give it a try and post in your different topics, comments and articles here because this bantabaa is only as good as it contributors.
Peace
Sister Omega

Thank you sister. I think that is a good call to the forum. The only way through which I think we can make a difference is to talk and discuss our ideas, feelings and thoughts.Although we may see some topics here that are not very appealig to our interlects, we can create some other topics we think are important to the general forum. Some of us might be students in this forum and hence it will wonderful for the great teachers to keep going and also for the students to give feed back. Lets keep going forward. PEACE! |

I agree with you sister, the Bantaba has become really boring. It seems to me that it has become a place for Gambiabev to shout her mouth off in a colonial, idealistic manner......I for one have drifted away and for this I apologise |

Come on Dave, don't let Gambianbev drive you away!!! I think the message star system is going to some peoples' heads here after all its not the quantity of posts that matter but the quality of posts. If you need to take a break feel free to do so but don't skip ship completely because your contribution is just as valid as any over zealous newcomers.
Take it easy
peace

Hi Dave! If this site is boring, why donīt you write something to make it less boring? You used to be pretty good at upsetting ppl and using obscene language on the old forum, so why donīt u continue please! I miss that... This board is way too nice nowadays. Spice it up a little. Where is Moe and Momo and all those funny guys? |

Sister O, I agree with you. Its the quality of posts that matters and not the quantity. By the way, the star and ranking systems are gone now |

Sister Omega,
I believe its the fact that people have to register at this site before they could post anything. I am an IT specialist, i know how some of those people feel about giving out their details. They can't trust giving their details to a site being run by someone they don't know, and they are right. You just can't give 100% trust in a virtual world. If anyone of you guys is scared giving out your personal details, there are still ways of going about it. Sister Omega, i think we are ok, if we talk about race and other things. Its good for the Gambian youth to know how 'race' affects our lives beyond our borders. Infact i have something to post on race issues soon. I am just busy with my academic work at the moment. Its not a topic that will attack anyone, but it instead is a problem that is so confusing to me. I would really love to get your reaction to it. I don't mind if its positive or negative, let it just be educative. :-). |

About quality and quantity, all that depends on what you find amusing. What one think is a quality posting may be a quantity posting to someone else. Many ppl find political postings dead boring and wants to read lighter stuff. That does not mean that those people are less intelligent or something, it is all about interests. |

To me it is more that I think alot. If I read something I want to respond! I am the same face to face in discussions. I was a typical student staying up late, drinking wine and putting the world to rights! In discussion now, in the staff room for example, I always give my opinion. What you see is what you get. It is my honest response.I dont pretend, I am not false.
But I find it strange that people read the sites and dont feel the urge to respond. That is my personality.
It is NOTHING to do with the stars...... I hadnt even noticed that till I was upgraded!!! I think No stars is best. Let new and old mix without any boundaries. Teachers and pupils has no place here...we can all learn from each other. |

I am very gratefull for Mr Camara for making the effort to provide a place to discuss issues. But I have to say that the design of this new bantaba put me off the make replies. The old site was much easier to scan in a few minutes to see if there was an interesting posting. I find this new lay out confusing and unclear. Often at work i would throw a quick glance over all the topics on the old site and I would now in an instant about new posting of interest to me. Now I have to go to deep into reading it all so that a quick glance during work time is not possible anymore. Guess my boss is happy though with the new design |

Sis Omega....thanks for the vote of confidence!!. Actually its not Gambia bev that has turned me off the bantaba. I agree with Tairema, since the format has changed it has become a little confusing and its not so easy to scan topics now. I guess we will all get used to it in time.
Babylon.....thanks for your kind words. I miss Moe and Momo too!!! |
