MOTHER GAMBIA

Foroyaa Editorial: Published on Monday, 04 November 2013

It is heartening for Foroyaa to receive so many letters indicating the way forward for the Gambia. We will be publishing them in due course. One thing is certain; the hearts of many Gambians are in unison with the heart beat of the people. These independent minded Gambians are proving that they could think for themselves and stand and be counted. We quite agree that a Gambian does not cease to be a citizen by going abroad.
Foroyaa is at the head in emphasising that the diaspora contributes nothing less than 1.7 Billion dalasi annually. This is official income. Investments from the diaspora are immense.
This is why the diaspora need to build consensus within its own ranks of where they think Gambia should head to and how to get there. No one person has the answers. Nations are developed by collective intelligence.

What is important is a climate of respect and civility to be introduced and enlarged as Gambians engage in a seriously meant debate on carving a destiny under the sun that would guarantee each and everyone of us liberty , dignity and prosperity.
