One might think this is an easy topic to relate to,but its not it's tied up with politics, culture, money, business, salaries, and the fact is that there is NO plan for waste management in Gambia, the recent articles in the press about market was left rotting,I have seen the waterside at Barra in a shocking state plastic bags cans, paper fishing nets ,Kanifing Area Council did have some equipment to collect rubbish several tractors and trailers, the shameful state of this equipment could be smelt even before the tractor appeared, this equipment especially the trailers were dripping with stinking matter that had not been washed and cleaned for a very long time,The gutters outside many houses in the capital and Serekunda more often than not dump their rubbish in the gutters, again a health hazard,WHY because its the way they have lived for many a long year.It is true that a minority of compound owners do have private refuse collectors, these can range from a specialised Dustcart ,a truck I have also seen a very enterprising man with a donkey cart as a refuse collection vehicle. What has happened to the SPECIAL LITTER COURT at Kanifing Magistrates court ? how many breaches of the rules has the magistrate dealt with since its inception? Sorry to say Gambians have never been very strong in any Management field.

"Simple is good" & I strongly dislike politics. You cannot defend the indefensible.
