IEC REGISTRATION OFFICERS ARRESTED

Reports reaching Foroyaa have it that three members of the IEC registration team posted at the Sinchu Alhagie registration centre are arrested and detained at the Yundum Police Station.
Amie Jarjue, Momodou Jaw and Baba Drammeh are said to have been arrested on Monday. According to reports, they reported for work at the IEC Bureau in Brikama on Monday, where they were asked to report to the Yundum Police Station. Reports have it that the arrestees were asked to write statements at the Police Station.
According our sources the IEC officers have been arrested and detained after they were accused of malpractices during the registration exercise. Efforts were however made to know the reasons why they were arrested and detained.
Mr. Sambujang Jagne, the Director of Operations at the IEC bureau confirmed the arrest of his officers, but declined to comment on the reasons that led to the arrest and detention of the three officers.
When contacted, the Police Spokesperson Aziz Bojang also confirmed the arrest and detention of the IEC officers, but declined to comment on the issue.
