Ethiopiques - a president's legacy

Léopold Senghor's famous "ETHIOPIQUES - Revue Negro-Africaine de Littérature et de Philosophie" now in its 38th year and still going strong with inspirational articles by leading authors on many different aspects of (mainly) West African culture and society.

All editions are available online.

A selection of interesting issues:

No. 28 - History of Gabou/Kaabu

No. 55 - History of the Serer and Sine

No. 66/67 - Islam in West Africa

No. 84 - Oral Literature

For those less/not fluent in (academic) French, Google Translater is quite a useful tool, despite the inevitable - sometimes quite hilarious - linguistic flaws.

Africa does boast presidents to be remembered for the right reasons.

The world is divided into people who do things, and people who get the credit. Try to belong to the first class - there's far less competition (D. Morrow)
