Yes Karamba.

-"Royal baby boy is born" JULY 22ND = REMEMBERED IN ANNALS OF THE GAMBIA AMONGST OTHER UK HISTORIC EVENTS AND PROMINENCE FOR MANY CELEBRITIES ACROSS WORLD. WITH "Latest celebrity baby news: Penelope Cruz gives birth the same day as the Duchess of Cambridge"

- ROYAL TREATMENT AND GRAND TITLES "Third in line to the throne of sixteen sovereign nations, destined to become Head of the Armed Forces, Supreme Governor of the Church of England, Defender of the Faith, Pharaoh of Egypt and Captain America. God bless him." = SAME AS THE KANILAI KING, SUPREME ISLAMIC COUNCIL SHEIKH, PROFESSOR, YAYA, AZIZ, JEMUS, JUKNJUNG......COMMANDER IN-CHIEF OF ARM FORCES. LOL

Very very unfair KOBO,the colonial times of perceived "interference" in Gambia is as strong as ever in your active political mind .
It's a baby boy that's been born,in a country where the Royal Family system is loved and respected.Thanks.

Toubab 1020 What's not "VERY, VERY UNFAIR" on a humour? I think you misunderstood me in playing around for fun on;

1. JULY 22ND - I referred to other commemorative events on this day

2. GRAND TITLES - Authority of fresh Prince also highlighted

Am not spoiling the party and rejoicing!

May baby be blessed, wise, live in good health, long life, family prosperity maintained and sustainable against tests of time!

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN! I CHERISHED GREAT BRITAIN OR UK TO BE IS ONE OF GREATEST COUNTRY IN WHOLE WORLD. GREAT BRITAIN IS A GREAT COUNTRY WITH VERY VERY GOOD PEOPLE, O.K

DAILY OBSERVER NEWS:

Gambia congratulates Britain on royal birth

"“Gambians at home and abroad have received the news with great delight and wish the British High Commission to convey to Clarence House our profound sentiments of goodwill on this great news of the birth today of the couple’s first child and the third in line to the British throne. With the event coinciding with the auspicious celebration of the 19th Anniversary of the July 22 Revolution, the government enjoins all Gambians to pray for the good health and well-being of the royal couple and the new baby,” a statement from the presidency stated Monday."....

Kobo, I understand what you have written in reply, but if your posting was humour ( "I think you misunderstood me in playing around for fun" ) ,there would have been no confusion at all if you had posted it to this forum:

http://www.gambia.dk/forums/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=15

Which was set up specifically to cater for such postings as yours below.

Instead of on a political forum

Maybe.....but just think of all the tourists and business it will bring to the country, yes folks, it's all about money ! unless you are a Royalist then it takes on a whole different aspect and money becomes secondary.

MAYBE Kisley, you believe in a republic, like Gambia with a President, instead of our system?

Its all a matter of personal preference

Monarchists really need to stop propargating this myth that the "royal family" brings revenue into this country. There is not one shred of evidence to back this up.

Hmmmm.........
I know it's not the Guardian kisley, but a respected newspaper, have a read,

A quote on the republican system:

"In France, Nicolas Sarkozy set an annual budget for his establishment at the Elysée of 110 million euros (£90 million). Last year, the French head of state's expenses were audited for the first time since the reign of Louis XVI; it revealed a flower bill of 275,809 euros and 3,000 euros in fines for late payment of electricity and gas."

We have divergent views here kisley and will never agree, sorry.

Here is a bit from The Guardian :

It appears that you are a minority.

Dear Toubab
Where is the credible evidence that the royal family bring tourists and thus revenue into this country.
Would tourism suffer if royality was abolished?

"VisitBritain, the body responsible for researching and promoting Britain as a tourist destination, surveyed 26,000 people about what attracted them to Britain. The monarchy was well down the list. A spokesperson from VisitBritain said the palace is: "one of those iconic photo destinations and we try to discourage 'tick-box tourism' - just going and having your photo taken somewhere and moving on." So even though people may go to see the sights, the monarchy is of limited value to the tourist industry as it does not generate revenue and is not the reason people visit Britain."

Also You have merely posted an editorial from a right wing journalist, who as usual has put a little bit of spin on the facts.. Playing to the target audience; Telling half the story, but leaving out a few things such as the Dutchy of Cornwells multi million pound property empire, and the non payment of corporation tax. I could go on and on, but I havent got the time and patience, plus this is a Gambian site.

Oh,and as for the "crown estate" raising XXX amount in revenue, who do you think owns this estate?

The royal family up until recently have been excempt from the "freedom of information act" ....
Apprently in a few months time the royals spending is about to be audited, although i wouldnt be supprised if the full info is not put in the public domain.

"Parliament’s most powerful watchdog, the Public Accounts Committee, is expected to launch an inquiry later this year into the finances of the Queen and the Royal Family. This follows a change in the law which, for the first time, gives MPs oversight of royal finances."

"Under the Civil List arrangements that were in force until 31 March 2012, the Royal Family faced criticism for the lack of transparency surrounding Royal finances. The National Audit Office was not entitled to audit the Royal Household. Under the Sovereign Grant, which replaced the Civil List and took effect on 1 April 2012, the National Audit Office will be able to audit the Royal Household."

Yes, i am all for freedom of information and transparency, hopefully this will be the first step...

Kisley, thanks for your last posting, you have been busy researching this topic much more than I have,

"Also You have merely posted an editorial from a right wing journalist, who as usual has put a little bit of spin on the facts.. Playing to the target audience; Telling half the story......." agreed but of course this is not a thing that "left wing" journalists do .

Transparency, honesty, accountability, and PERSONAL responsibility are,or should be, prime factors in all walks of life and be implemented by every person in the world both in their Personal and business dealings, but it is a sad fact that if such factors were implemented the world as we know it now would be a different place.
I would say probably better
