DURING HIS ACCOUNTABILITY TENURE AND EXPOSING RAMPANT CORRUPTION IN ALL SECTORS OF GOVERNMENT, EVIDENT FROM SELECTION OF RELATED BANTABA TOPICS;
If the firing of Auditor General Babucarr Sankareh is confirm it would be a tragedy and big lost to nation. He showed professionalism, competence, maintained his professional integrity and independence throughout manning this position; over 10 years in tact.
HE IS A LEGEND (SOME KIND OF GENIUS), FACED VERY TRYING TIMES AND DIFFICULT CHALLENGES OCCUPYING THIS POSITION UNDER JAMMEH/APRC REGIME, WHO MAINTAINED HIGH STANDARDS, FOUGHT TO PROTECT INTEGRITY OF THE AUDITOR GENERAL OFFICE, A VERY DEDICATED YOUNG COURAGEOUS MAN WHO SERVED HIS COUNTRY "WITHOUT FEAR AND FAVOUR"; FOR POSTERITY AND AWAITING NATIONAL HONOUR(S)
I TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH GAINAKO'S ANALYSIS AND IT APPEAR THEY AREN'T "FAIR AND BALANCE" BUT WENT OUT OF THE WAY WITH DENUNCIATION AND CASTIGATING YOU BABUCARR SANKAREH! GAINAKO'S CONSPIRACY THEORIES ARE NOT VALID; IN MY OPINION! OCCUPYING STEWARDSHIP PUBLIC POSITION OF AUDITOR GENERAL IS ONE OF HOTTEST SEATS LIKE PRESIDENCY; ALSO WHAT MADE IT HOTTER IS SERVING UNDER A TYRANT, BAD GOVERNANCE AND JAMMEH/APRC PUPPET REGIME FOR PUBLIC ACCOUNTABILITY! GOD BE WITH YOU BABUCARR!

Karamba VERY TRUE ON HOT SEAT OF THE AUDITOR GENERAL'S OFFICE THAT MUST BE GRANTED "INDEPENDENCE" AND MUST BE SUSTAINED BY THAT "INDEPENDENCE"
RELEVANT SECTIONS OF THE GAMBIA CONSTITUTION FOR OFFICE, ROLE OF THE AUDITOR GENERAL'S OFFICE, ITS "INDEPENDENCE", ROLE OR AUTHORITY OF THE FINANCE AND PUBLIC ACCOUNTS COMMITTEE (FOR REVIEW OF AUDITOR GENERAL'S REPORT), APPOINTMENT AND LEAVING THIS POSITION; - 158. "(2) The Auditor-General shall be appointed by the President after consultation with the Public Service Commission."
- 158. "(3) Before assuming the functions of his or her office the Auditor General shall take and subscribe to the prescribed oaths."
- 158. "(4) Subject to the other provisions of this section, a person holding the office of Auditor-General shall vacate his or her office when he or she attains the compulsory retirement age, or upon the termination of his or her appointment by the President"
- 158. "(5) A person holding the office of Auditor General may be removed from office only for inability to perform the functions of his or her office (whether from infirmity of mind or body or from any other cause) or for misbehaviour or incompetence."
- 159. "(1) There shall be a National Audit Office in the public services of which the Auditor General shall be the head, and the other members which shall assist the Auditor General in the performance of the functions conferred on him or her by this Constitution or any Act of the National Assembly."
- 160. "(7) In the exercise of his or her functions under this Constitution or any law, the Auditor General shall not be subject to the direction or control of any other person or authority."
- 160. "(8) Nothing in this Constitution shall preclude the Auditor-General, at the request of the head or governing body of any public body, corporation or institution referred to in subsection (1) (c), or on his or her own initiative, from carrying out any special audit of such body, corporation or institution; and where he or she caries out such a special audit, it shall be reported to the finance and Public Accounts Committee."

FOROYAA NEWS:EDITORIAL
WHY IS THE AUDITOR GENERAL NOT IN OFFICE? THE GOVERNMENT HAS LOT TO EXPLAIN
"Foroyaa has been trying to reach Auditor General Sankareh to find out why he is not in office. The position of Auditor General is the most important responsibility in the financial system of a Nation. This is why the occupant of the position should be protected by law.
The question now arises: Is the Auditor General dismissed from the service? Section 69 of the constitution states that
“ (1) No Public servant shall be – (a) victimized or discriminated against either directly or indirectly for having discharged his or other duties faithfully and according to law: or
(b) be removed from office or reduced in rank or otherwise punished without just cause."
The next question arises: Is the Auditor General forced to retire? Section 167 of the Constitution states that
(b) power to remove an officer in the public service shall include power to require such officer to retire from the Public Service provided that nothing in this paragraph shall be construed as conferring on any person or authority the power to require a judge of a superior court, the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Auditor General or the Ombudsman or a deputy Ombudsman to retire from the Public service”
Hence an Auditor General cannot be forced to retire.
Furthermore one may ask: When could an Auditor General be removed from office? Section 158 Subsection 5 states:
“A person holding the office of Auditor General may be removed from office only for inability to perform the functions of his or her office (whether from infirmity of mind or body or from any other cause) or for misbehaviour or incompetence.”
Infirmity of mind or body requires medical intervention.
Misbehaviour or incompetence requires proof of judicial inquiry in which the person concerned would be represented.
Foroyaa will conduct more investigation to find out what has happened to the Auditor General."
