Kamikaze ! though shall not move These imposing boulders stock here Set to prevent a sure move from there Of any interlocutor in the name of justice Eh hem! these stones have no ears to hear Nor do they have eyes to see Speak less of hearts that feel any compassion Towards any indigent folks Their lot is to suffer continuous pain Which they must bear without a single cry of pain Or protest Which even beasts of burden are allowed In the primitive settings of yore
In their silent songs They sing " lankantandangho laye Lankatandangho laye,oh kumba camara ! have mercy " Silence being the mode These cries go unheard The faces are masked from view Only the occasional groan or sighs of pain Come out intermittently and oh so low Which vibes get caught in the winds abroad Triggering alarm bells for Amnesty I and co to cry foul But the brute who causes the suffering Has no time or qualms about his effects on the weak Upon whom he tramples as a routine daily pass Like the rice in the mortar gets beat By the frenzied pounding of a mother in need To feed the hungry kids at home His need is called national security Crossing which, causes one to suffer All kinds of ignominious calumny But the song keeps being mimed In the hope that some one picks up a sign Then come to their succor
In a nation so small That once had it a tag on Such as that of an improbable state Shouldering a burden so heavy Which threatens to shatter it to bits Yet the world moves on indifferent With eyes set on gains further afield Where they can reap benefits from fields Of oil, gold , diamonds or even wheat Which if even present on that smallish land Has not yet gotten the allure of important feeders Thus we stay to rut or disintegrate For all they care
