The local government election is over but the harassment still continues, claimed Ismaila Gitteh. Gitteh who felt disappointed by Mayor Colley’s actions spoke to this paper earlier this week. “I am denied access to the Fish market at Bakoteh by the KMC security and other political big names” Gitteh said

I was intercepted by KMC police officers and sermon to their post at the vicinity of the fish market as I was negotiating a canton for my wife with one Isatou who works at the market last week. On arrival at the security post, I found Lamin Camara who is the divisional APRC youth mobiliser, Araa Jatta another APRC mobiliser, and the KMC chief security officer Duwa Jatta. As I enter one of the KMC police officers close the door behind me, leaving me with the person mentioned above in the hall.

I ask why am there and latter later Duwa Jatta told me that he has instructions from the KMC Mayor that he Gitteh should be taken away from the vicinity and that he should not come anywhere close to the fish market. Jatta said the mayor, said he Ismaila ,MC and Sanusi disappointed him as they called a press conference sometimes ago and went on mentioning his name in that press conference.

Arra Jatta also said anybody who is not for APRC; will not be entertained in the market, especially those who are Independent candidates.

The chief security officer, later called the mayor and put the phone on loud speaker informed the mayor that I am still there insisting not to leave the area, Gitteh said. Mayor Colley could be heard on the phone saying that, he did not want anymore news that he Gitteh is still at the premises of the Fish market at Bakoteh. It was at that time that, the security and one lady called Araa Jatta push me out of the office and later from the market area. A large crowd of onlookers watch as I leave, Gitteh said.

Ismaila Gitteh is the Independent candidate who stood at the London Corner ward in the last local government elections.
