Many people would have grinding belly conditions after realising how much horse meat is part of their daily consumption.
How many of you are not affected ?

Not necessarily the french eat horsemeat quite often, the problem is that in MOST parts of the developed world drugs that are used in the treatment of horses have not been tested to ascertain if they will harm humans, drugs that are used on animals the meat of which is used for human consumption, cows, sheep, goats, etc. are tested and unless safe not authorised for use by vets. The insides of animals are different from those of humans in the way in which they utilise the food they eat. I do not know if the french have their own system for checking horsemeat for human consumption is safe

Ah Yes...........don't forget the boom times for lawyers these days, they appear to be making their own sort of "killing" on this "problem" :
"Britain is to hold crisis talks with other countries over the horsemeat scandal today as the first court cases related to the scare begin."

Toubab1020, without doubt, "one man's meat is another man's poison." Hardened or tender as it turns to be, horse meat is not enjoyed same way by different consumers. It takes times for certain food be taken in full dose.
Horse meat is not that popular my part of the world. |

Horse meat is selling more now than ever. If not for the raw meat value, news outlets are cutting fat beef out of the situation. There are many ways to drive profits.
Toubab1020 how about that ?

Yes I can agree with that, it is evident that MOST businesses MAY consider taking shortcuts or additions of product to maximise their profit potential,as for labeling, well, basically just wait until someone blows the whistle or finds out, then its "an unintended mistake" we will rectify it at once, all part of "marketing" now the days of honest and clear trading are a distant memory now we are in the 21st century.,its all about money.

KOBO,your U tube clip is very Old maybe somewhere over 50 years, when the UK was still getting over the shortages of the second world war and food was not at all plentiful. In short it could in no way be taken to represent UK in 2013.I do however agree with the french reading on the subject that it is "It is not a food safety problem but one of falsification and fraud."

2. Sun newspaper (UK News) reported TROTTEN TO THE BONE Saturday , February 9, 2013 that; "The source of many of the contaminated products is French supplier Comigel's factory in Luxembourg.
The firm, with an annual turnover of atleast £50million a year now faces prosecution for fraud in France."
Today (Wednesday February 13, 2013) in the news factory raids yesterday have busted two British companies thought to be involved in passing off horse meat as beef and kebabs were raided yesterday by food safety officers.
"Both the Petter Boddy slaughterhouse in Todmorden West Yorkshire and Farmbox Meats, in Llandre, Aberystwyth had their operations stopped by the Foods Standards Agency (FSA).
Slaughterhouse owner Peter Boddy denied the [b]FSA had entered his premises unannounced.
'It was not a raid - they are welcome to visit whenever they want, they just wanted to see my records which I will be showing them,' he said.
He added that he does not slaughter horses at his plant and that the meat is sold in Britain."
To calm mounting public alarm, also Sun newspaper reported under QUOTE; quote: Paris prosecutors said last night: "It is not a food safety problem but one of falsification and fraud."
"Insiders said any firm found to be selling horse as beef faced "huge fines"."
