Obama gave Romney a good whooping last night. According to the CNN polls, 47% of American voters said Obama won and about 39% thinks Romney won. Overall, 73% thinks Obama did more than expected with margin error (+,-4.5). Both candidates did really well in terms of manners and respecting the opponent.
While Romney charges Obama of policy failures and being unable to deliver what he promised four years ago, Obama charges Romney with being empty and without specific details on how to achieve his plans. It was almost a knockout blow when Obama brought up Romney’s reference to 47% of Americans being dependent on welfare in his closing statement.
What this year’s campaign may come down is obviously the economy and domestic related issues. With just three (3) weeks to go for the much talked about presidential elections, the odds to see Romney as president is increasing by the hour. I am increasingly becoming worried of how he will relate with the outside world. World peace is a big driving factor. We don’t need any more wars than we already have.
However negative the US presidential campaign has been, it still earned the respect of many in terms of democratic values where citizens get to participate freely without fear of arrest or getting harmed. Ours in Gambia, for example, is far from it.
