NCAC to create Museum at Fort Bullen,a super idea,I take it that the Gambian army will no longer be using the fort as they have done in the recent past,a great project for the UK to get involved with and a project that I am sure will become a focal point for visitors to North Bank to make for instead of heading out of Barra as fast as they can.

Great!
What happened to the US grant of $21,000 for the conservetion of the same place in 2006 which should have included a site museum? The following is from the archives: THE STATE OF FORT BULLEN |

The answer is there,American Visitors came and went in the 1990's when Roots fever was at its height then interest tailed off, just like the "grants" money did, read JAMBO'S post and ciomment "UNESCO gave grants to this region what happened, i do think it woul dbe good if KOBO, NJUCKS, MOMODOU some of the enquiring bantaba minds could look into the paper trail. |

Please enlighten me if you know the answer because your above post makes no sense to me.
My question is about the earlier renovation in 2006. Has there not been established a museum with the American grant in 2006?
"The works to be implemented with the grant funds include: -Restoration of the Sea Defence at Fort Bullen -The development of a site museum at Fort Bullen -The conversion of a Guardhouse into a souvenir shop -Consolidation of parapet walls and walks at the Six-Gun Battery and Fort Bullen, respectively."
I visited Fort Bullen on several occations but have not been there since 2005. |

Ok,a bit obtuse I grant you Momodou, you are quite correct in what you say the "clue" was in where has the grant money gone?,was any money ever given to Gambia by way of this grant,if so,why wasn't it used for the purpose for which it was given? if no money was ever given by the Americans, where did that allocated grant money go,as with many things political quite often words are not matched by action, sorry if my post was difficult to understand. |
