I have no doubt that :"traditional medicine as a vital component of the health-care system in The Gambia" ,but sometimes such knowledge may be used without due care and a means of making money only, treatment being ineffective and maybe in some cases harmful ,and for those reasons alone it,is necessary to have some oversight as a protection measure, being a toubab, I have little knowledge of traditional medicine but a great many medicines have been made using plant materials and are in common use today, but cleaned up and made to look nice in expensive packaging, the traditional healer is using knowledge handed down to him over many generations, his products can have exactly the same effect as the pretty toubab product at affordable prices.
