http://dailynews.gm/africa/gambia/article/president-jammeh-cautions-ngos

"Now that the NGO affairs agency has been placed under the office of the president, he promised that concerns of NGOs will be given attention it deserves.
“We are aware of the development challenges we face and want to urge all NGOs to continue to work with the government and communities to bring about quality development to the people,” President Jammeh said. "

Now that NGOs have been transferred to H.E.'s control lets hope that "unnecessary obstacles" that MAY have been put in place by SOME ministries in Gambia previously will miraculously disappear and the NGOs are able to persue their work,in helping Gambians.
I do not know the remit of the NGO affairs agency, but it must be to ensure that bogus NGOs set up by people for profit cease to exist, this appeared to be the implication I formed from the bulk of the speech by H.E. the quote on this page was at the end of the speech which was very well written.

"Simple is good" & I strongly dislike politics. You cannot defend the indefensible.
