INVITATION
GAMBIA HUMAN RIGHTS SEMINAR The African Study Group(Sweden) invites all Gambians and friends of The Gambia to a Human Rights Seminar to be held in
Place: Stockholm Medborgarplatsen. 4th Floor , rum 404. Date: Saturday 22 January Time:15:00-19:00.
This will be an all day Event(see programme outline below).Human Rights issues in Gambia have for long not been adequately addressed, and some of the issues have been subjects of Taboo.Deep rooted discrimination of certain communities such as Caste and Gender(Leather workers,Metal workers,Musicians women) and the physically and mentally disabled etc have been with us for as long as the memory can recall. Our land tenure system remains a repository for aristocratic priviledge and a bullwork against equality of ownership of a fundamental life sustaining resource.Add to these concerns, the sheer abuse of office of state and allied structures, inequality in Education and health provision, urban decay and rural stagnation, not to mention the use of security forces, the judiciary and prison services as coercive arms of the state against dissent by individuals and groupings.
A wholistic discourse and approach to this vital subject is envisaged.
Among those invited are The Gambia human rights for all Humra-Sweden represented by Yayha Dampha Secretary General.he London-based Sene-Gambia Human Rights Defense League, who is being represented by their Sect.General Abdulai Jobe,The Amnesty Internation Swden and a host of interested parties and organisations in Scandinavia.
