You can find details of this reggae music festival which is being held on Batukunku beach from Jan 20-25 on the web site www.backtoafricafestival.com. Even though I'll be in the Gambia and I love Reggae I won't be going. First off this seems to be aimed at toubab tourists willing to pay £600 all in or anyone with £100 (about 4000+ Dalasi) for 5 day tickets. A one day ticket will cost £25. Doesn't look as though tickets will even be on sale in the Gambia but only in the UK. These prices will not be affordable to most Gambians which is a shame as I know they love their reggae. Usually when reggae stars perform in the Gambia tickets have been more realistically priced. I remember the Sizzla concert being about 300 Dalasi. Ariwa Records who are promoting this concert are doing reggae music lovers in the Gambia a diservice and I for one ain't gonna give them my money. Shame on them. Reggae for the rich! They should know better and do better.
