Change in the Gambia
by Fabakary Trawally Badibu Salikene

YOU ARE NOT SERIOUS ABOUT CHANGE IN THE GAMBIA; THE WORD CHANGE ONLY STOPS ON YOUR TONGUES. CAN’T SEE THAT ???????

My message to the so called cyber warriors who cannot withstand the heat in the battlefield at home but have to run with breakneck speed to US and other western countries to seek refuge is that if you are calling us to join forces with you unthinkingly to remove what you called a tyrant and a dictator only to replace him with one more vicious then you are counting on the wrong people. We in PDOIS are not in politics by accident. We came into politics after a thorough study of the condition of our people and realizing that the best we could do is to empower them by helping to raise their awareness.

That is what we have been doing from the inception of our party to date and in the process we have deliberately refused to serve nothing other than the general interest. We will not compromise the general interest with even our individual or what you call party interest. That is our way and we shall stick to it for the rest of our lives. For us there is no alternative to that. You may call us the Gambian Talaban, Extremists, Fundamentalists, Halipharist or whatever name you like. That is your problem.

If you are serious about change in the Gambia you have to be sincere in your thoughts and actions. This will require you to commit yourselves to a program the sole focus of which is to empower the Gambian masses, nothing else. No playing games. At least not with us; we have no time for that.

Clearly this Trawally is just another ignorant fool. There is nothing good he can achieve from this, only exposing his own narrow-mindedness. What makes him take any opposition leader to be more vicious than Jammeh? He must be mental!

Kobo, why such rubbish?

Senegambia. I wouldn't try to defend or hold brief for this fanatic militant defending his party against certain posture, sarcastic tirades and rhetoric; especially the campaign for all other opposition to subdue and/or succumb to UDP led-political platform/campaign/government and desperate militancy/activism for 2011 elections; discounting PDOIS in the political equation, voices and front for change/status quo/deadlock in the Gambia?

In my opinion, writer has some valid points and sound arguments against the oppressive forces of the party he supports; and/or the shift in focus across cyber media trying to subject PDOIS remain fatally downtrodden and its leaders considered outcasts citizens?

Please refer to quote below on this statement in question, ".....to remove what you called a tyrant and a dictator only to replace him with one more vicious then you are counting on the wrong people."

QUOTE
""Most people, no doubt, when they espouse human rights, make their own mental reservations about the proper application of the word "human."""

Overall article struck some crude chords that PDOIS are part of the solutions and not causes of the problems for "change in the Gambia" and democratise the country
