Gambians Should Vote for Lawyer Darboe
Gambia’s presidential elections are slated for November 24th 2011. I just wanted to send my last minute appeal to all Gambians regardless of their political affiliation, tribe or religion.
It is better that we dwell on the things that unite as Gambians than the things that will divide us. During the past six years, I have been a supporter to the NADD formula and still believe that was the best on the table. Now that things didn’ t go in that direction, and given the circumstance, Hamat Bah should withdraw his candidature and convince his supporters to rally behind Lawyer Darboe so we can finally send Yaya Jammeh packing.
Given the fact that Darboe has more followers and has taken second position in all the past elections, he is certainly in a better position to defeat Jammeh than the Independent Candidate Hamat Bah.
On the above token, the Gambia is bigger than any of us. I appeal to all those that has been doing the politics of tribe to desist from it completely. The politics of tribe has no place in our midst. It is one Gambia, one people!
While saluting all our opposition, media houses, and those concerned Gambians continually wishing Jammeh and his pact to vanish once and for all, I also wanted to appeal to all to keep the peace. The Gambia belongs to all of us and we all have equal stakes.
Vote and vote massively for Lawyer Darboe!
Sincerely,
Yero Dalton Jallow

Sorry Dalton 1, where is the politics of tribe
At this critical time, I observed that this is not about tribe and religion but political balances weighed on partisan and national causes and/or tipped between them; for or against UDP Party-led (partisan) and united (national) front? Dalton 1 you appear to over step the boundaries with these personal declarations, biased expressions of your whims and caprices, conflicting with other citizens' viewpoints of status-quo and deadlock? "Democracy is fittingly described as described as “government of the people, for the people and by the people.”" Therefore certain frivolous personal convictions, wishful thinking and delusions from certain prominent vocal diaspora cyber/media elites are counter-productive and futile in the democratic process; supposed to be nurtured for progress and development of future generations for the Gambia our homeland
Its very clear that other opposition parties and its leaders were abused, caricatured, discredited, miniaturised, bullied, insulted, all sorts of petty politics by some arrogant elites causing distrust, dis-orientations, dis-organisation, dis-unity and weakening opposition front; past five years when ALL OPPONENTS were trying to promote national unity and a united front to mobilise against Jammeh/APRC 2011
I don't think there are compelling reasons for united front to join UDP and there are no chances at all, within days to go for general elections and campaign in full gear? UDP is a political party and all partners of united front also are political parties respectively; that decided to form a united national front, stepping out of their party political platforms for the national united front. UDP should have been under a united front but its resolutions are uncompromising and already late to unite under one common banner/platform with other faction; due to differences of strategies, policies and interpretation of representation for the common/national political platform; to salvage the nation in course of national non-violent revolution |

Nyarikangbanna aka Daffeh I have you as my prime culprit and culpable villain, Mathew K.Jallow, Bamba K. Mass, Lamin J.Darbo and many of UDP-UK members (architect/proponents of "party-led) on my charge sheet for divide and rule policies, tribalism, divisive politics, petty politics, arrogance and frustrating efforts of our credible leaders on front-line and firing line; when we were preparing for this battle against Jammeh/APRC as opponents and dissidents of this regime; and diaspora which could have been the concious force and dynamic elites working for national unity; in partnership and solidarity to salvage the motherland |

For this moment, what Gambians yearn for is to sweep away Jammeh and his contaminated body of people. They have brought so much hardship and need showing the exit door quick. Those of you in different political groups, you are better off keeping that away for this moment. The whole house is on fire. No time for blame games. Gambia first, your parties later.
Dump Jammeh and his crew in deep sea. Gambia needs to be salvaged this time round. Don't be surprised some APRC street singers may decide to vote Jammeh out so that everyone is free. Jammeh is not good for Gambia at all. |

JOLLOF ON-LINE NEWS WITH INTERESTING COMMENTS FROM TWITTERS;
WHY SHOULD OTHER CITIZENS ENFRANCHISED AND STAKEHOLDERS FOR THE COMMON GOOD OF ALL, OTHER LEGITIMATE REGISTERED PARTIES WITH CREDIBLE POLITICAL LEADERS BE HELD TO RANSOM, HOODWINKED AND ACCEPT TO BE ON SIDE-LINES OF A PARTISAN CAUSE OF A POLITICAL PARTY?
LAWYER OUSAINOU DARBOE UDP LEADER AND UDP CANNOT OCCUPY ALL THE DEMOCRATIC/ELECTORATE/MULTI-PARTY SPACE FOR OPPOSITION PARTIES ON THE GROUND AND REPRESENT THE POLITICAL PLATFORM FOR ALL OPPONENTS? SO CONSIDER ANY PERSONALITY POLITICS, PARTISAN PROPAGANDA AS BAD JUDGEMENT, UNDEMOCRATIC AND WRONG STRATEGY

Mawdo Kobo,
Thank you for always reading my little contributions and for adding value to what I write. I take no offense in your above reaction . It is the politics season and I can handle those shots of yours. I am honestly such a little person that my opinion shouldn't worry you at all. Besides, you have gotten the wrong end of my opinion piece. I would have contributed more to this thread If i wasn't busy. Just a quick point of correction, that my advice for Gambians to desist from the politics of tribe is not a miscalculation. Just yesterday, I was defending at the Gambia post and Gambia L a label on Halifa whose cause we both champion. No worries at all Kobo. I honestly do not have time to push and pull, and certainly not with you, whoever you happen to be. Some body else is on my shoulders and that is none but Yaya jammeh. Please read & take care Kobo. Hopefully the next day offers you a better day, because you certainly seem not to having a great day today.

I also happen to think whoever the *****ic attention seeker is, needs to quit this mary-go-round nonsense. It is not only unfair to Halifa but the whole of the Gambian community especially those that know him. After Halifa worked with Sidia for close to three decades, how on earth can the man be called a tribalist. It is absolute stupidity and nonsense. The kind of attention seeking is becoming very common in spheres. I hope the ***** will quit the nonsense. Well said Buhary, Sanusi et al. Yero
I know the man and the little that I know from him he is not one of the type. The tribal card has always surfaced during elections and my mention of it was general advice and not directed at any individual, political party or organization. Regards to my personal opinion, I hope you are not trying to say that I am not entitled to it. I think Darboe certainly has the best chance to unseat Jammeh this time around. Further, I think Gambians need to massively vote for him.
Daffeh et al; Thanks for the forward here and for sharing my piece. I honestly wish the UDP all the best. Please don't loose focus! Score your political points and win the elections massively. Good luck to Darboe and the UDP! Long live the Gambia!!
Kind Regards, Yero

Just a quick note Kobo, if you feel so strong about your rejoinder above, feel free to organize it and send to Demba. Be rest assured it will be carried, for everyone's opinion on what is stake counts.
Long live democracy!! Long live the Gambia and her people!!!

Dalton 1 You are certainly entitled to your opinions and favourite(s) party/leader that you choose to support for 2011 elections
Also personally the main body of your article peddled across Gambian on-line media to drum up support for UDP at the expense of the united front; were also well received with mixed-feelings and I consider them as audacious visions for 2011 general elections
Please re-examine your statements below;
"It is better that we dwell on the things that unite as Gambians than the things that will divide us. During the past six years, I have been a supporter to the NADD formula and still believe that was the best on the table. Now that things didn’t go in that direction, and given the circumstance, Hamat Bah should withdraw his candidature and convince his supporters to rally behind Lawyer Darboe so we can finally send Yaya Jammeh packing.

On the above token, the Gambia is bigger than any of us. I appeal to all those that has been doing the politics of tribe to desist from it completely. The politics of tribe has no place in our midst. It is one Gambia, one people!"
You won my respect and high regards but reading it make me wonder;
1. Why the audacity to tell Hamat Bah/united front to pack-up for Darbo/UDP because NADD collapsed and/or any "given circumstance"
2. Whether other parts of your statements are pragmatic and coherent arguments in building or mobilising a united national front
3. "On above token", as "Gambia is bigger than any of us"; whether you are blind, deaf and dumb to see "One Gambia One people" slogan for united national front |
