Will PDOIS Militants Stop this Laughable Defense?

Message from the editor- Yankuba Jabang

PDOIS supporters, please stop making these laughable arguments that Halifa Sallah was offered a ministerial post by Yahya Jammeh which he declined, and this some how translates into Sallah being a 'hero' and the most 'honest' politician in the Gambia! Nonsense. Let it be known to them that many Gambians have turned down Jammeh's offers. Lawyer Ousman Sillah and Dr. Kora have all turned down Yahya Jammeh's ministerial posts.

Or no, Halifa is a 'hero' because he investigated Jammeh's 'witch' campaign in Makumbaya until he was arrested. Cut the crap that has no carb. How many Gambians have been arrested for doing what is right? Would Sallah claim he was tortured in detention? If you want to name the heroes of our struggle, beat the drums for Deyda Hydara, Syngle Nyassi, Babucarr Gaye, Madi K. Ceesay, Musa Saidykhan, Omar Barrow, the dozen plus students who braved Yahya Jammeh's bullets and chains of torture. Sing a melodious tune for Dr. Scattred Janneh, etc. Cut the crap, PDOIS

It is just insane what is going on, with the intellectual class of a certain group of people directing their hate and animosity to the person of Halifa Sallah. Why? Because they believe he is the one that is standing on their way to the Gambian state house.

What they are failing to realize is that Halifa has made a pact with his destiny; he is committed to an intellectual struggle that would eventually see the carving of a Gambian nation that would live in dignity, propserity and liberty. And there is no amount of acrimony from any class of people that would chnage that.

The man has stated categorically that he is not in the business of making people kings. He believes in principles and have principles; he believes in democractic processes and strictly abide by those processes. What again does these people not understand?

There is ample justification for whatever claims Halifa would like to arrogate to himself. How come then, this one man who has only one vote, is villified and castigated as holding to ransom the aims and aspirations of these intellectual bunch to muzzle their way to the Gambian state house? You then have to give the man his respects and due.

I said it before, and I will say it again. Halifa is endowed with the intellectual disposition to shape and guide the Gambian public debate, and there is not a hoot anyone can do about it.

Just consider. The UDP invited all the opposition parties to sell their idea of a party led coalition. Halifa proposed and argued for a more democratic process to shape and guide the character of the opposition to this year's presidential race. And guess who carries the day? Five out of the seven opposition parties that attended the meeting sided with him.

And Halifa has one more arsenal in his disposal. If you think that you have only Halifa Sallah to deal with, you better think again. There are many more Halifa Sallah's just waiting in the wings. howework
