It is with solemn sense of service to country and people that today, we announce to you the existence of the PDOIS-USA and PDOIS-Europe branches. Drawing authority from the party’s constitution under article 17, members of the party resident outside of the Gambia, took it upon ourselves and in consultation with the party’s central committee to establish branches in our respective localities.
The PDOIS-USA and PDOIS-Europe branches are legally mandated by the party’s central committee to represent the interest of the party in our respective geographical locations. The PDOIS-USA branches’ mandate of operation covers the United States of America, Canada, South America and The Caribbean, whilst the PDOIS-Europe branch is mandated to represent the party’s interest in the European Union and Eastern Europe. As branches of the People’s Democratic Organization for Independence and Socialism the PDOIS-USA and PDOIS-Europe branches are to serve as extension arms of the party. The PDOIS-USA and PDOIS-Europe branches are to coordinate all PDOIS party activities in their respective geographical locations in consultation with the central committee.
The mandate of the branches include among other things:
1. To conduct membership, political and civic education and recommend party supporters for membership.
2. To conduct fundraising activities on behalf of the party.
3. To conduct public relations for the party.
4. To mobilize Africans in the Diaspora in the spirit of Pan Africanism for unity, democracy and development on the
continent.
PDOIS-USA branch is headed by Jabou Joh as chairperson with Pasamba Jow serving as Secretary to the branch while PDOIS-Europe Branch has Alagie Jobe as the chairperson and Malick Kah as secretary.
