Where can we go to cry?
where can we go to dance?
where can we go to sing?
where can we go to laugh?

Our arena is inundated with killer bees
our drums are ripped apart
our laughter is choked.

I will not be angry with you
if your voice remain silent
not because you do now want to speak
there is nothing more to speak anymore.

I remember you
you are the seed that sprout from the dry earth
the hope that was planted
and with discipline and conviction
you carry the weight of a conscience
an indelible mark
imprinted in our hearts and in our minds
as we trace our footprints in the sands of time.

I will not be angry with you
if your voice remain silent
your dignity has not been compromised.

I will not be angry with you
if your voice remain silent
your humanity has not been debased.

Where can we go to laugh?
where can we go to sing?
where can we go to dance?
where can we go to cry?

Do we have any more tears to shed?
Do we have any more songs to sing?

Cry any where of your choice my dear but set not a daring foot on the soil of motherland Gambia there you will cry blood not tears. Erudite brother the poem is so poignant and clearly speaks volumes of pains ingrained in our souls alas we are bereft of hope! here we can only moan on the sidelines hoping for redemption, the brave ones stayed home to challenge the beast I for one had to flee as it was too hard for me to sustain the burden any longer. I therefore salute those heroes who are doing all they can to change the status quo though at times we all or some of us do seem to berate their stance on the ground. I wonder what more they can do. I simply like your peom brother keep it rolling .
