I think that there must be a bit of a story to this,as the sentence I think reflects this, be interesting to know what exactly happened.

Man convicted of theft Africa » Gambia Monday, August 29, 2011 One Musa Susso, a resident of Farato Village in Kombo South District of the West Coast Region was on Monday convicted and sentenced to pay a fine of D500 in default to serve two weeks imprisonment by the Brikama Magistrates Court, presided over by Magistrate Edward Singhateh for the offence of stealing in a dwelling house, contrary to Section 252 of the Criminal Code, Laws of The Gambia.
The particulars of offence revealed that on or about the 14th August 2011, at Farato Village, the accused stole a mobile phone marked Qcell valued D3, 000 from one Abdou Aziz Sowe.

What exactly happened was, toubab1020, the bloke/thief got sentenced by a criminal in the name of Col. Edward Singhateh, accused of crimes against humanity, who's likely next stop is in the docks, pretending to be lenient, trying to fool Gambians to forgive and forget about his own atrocities. A cool sleek move.........................................................................................lol!

I knew that there was a story, the outcome for the magistrate,if he appears at the Haig and pleads guilty is likely to be much more than a D500 fine or 2 weeks in jail, also what threw me a bit is that in Gambia many Gambians have identical names,so being a toubab my error could perhaps be overlooked ? |
